I've never had a spray tan...

Mrs. Librarian, on October 15, 2016 at 12:39 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 21

I have never had a spray before but I got a weird tan line when I was at a theme park a few weeks ago so I want to get rid of it before the wedding because my dress is strapless. Any tips before I go?

Exfoliate, don't shower for 24 hours afterwards. They'll tell you 8, but I would wait longer. Try not to do anything that would cause you to sweat or it may streak off.

To be honest I got a spray tan to try and hide tan lines and it was a total waste of money. Didn't really do anything

Are you doing a booth or a personal spray? A personal spray will help with tan lines, but an automatic booth won't really help. For sure exfoliate before, and as pp's have also said wait to shower as long as you can stand it.

Don't sweat for 24 hours, or don't sweat with a spray tan period?

Honestly, I got one a couple years ago for a wedding, I got it on a Wednesday and the wedding was Saturday. Even at the wedding, I sweat, and it got on my dress a little.

Not sure if everyone has that experience, but it did happen to me. I didn't end up getting one for my wedding.

You have some time I wouldn't worry too much! You could always get one now to experiment since you do have a few weeks

Since you have never had one, I suggest you don't get one. It WILL be a different look than you have ever had before, even if it comes out nicely. And there is a good chance it won't do anything to the tan lines.

Don't do a booth, go and have a person do one. They will able to help coverup tan lines and make it even while a booth is the same all over.

Depending on the area location and size, what about some body bronzer? Just add a bit to fill in the lighter spots?

I have had one spray tan in my whole life and I hated it. I scrubbed my body down the night before, followed all of the recommendations, laid on my couch for 24 hours trying not to move. I ended up with splotches, streaks, and lines between my fingers. It was right before my step-brother's wedding, so I was exfoliating like a beeeyotch to even things out.

Make sure it's a person. Not a booth. Exfoliation is key and wear loose dark clothes.

If they provide you with this lotion to put on your hands and feet, APPLY a lot of it and I mean a lot. Put it on thick so your hands and feet don't turn an orange color. My advice is to only get a spray tan to even out your already existing tan. I've seen many times where if you go because your pale, you will turn a weird color

My MUA was able to blend my tan lines if you are scared to do a spray and end up orange that's another option!

It will only rub off if you choose the bronzer spray instead of the clear spray. I'd recommend an airbrush tan over a spray tan. I do them quite often. You can't get wet or sweat for the first few hours or it will streak. I'd definitely do one ahead of time to see if you like it before committing to one for your wedding day. I'd also get it 2-3 days prior to wedding.

I have had terrible luck with spray tans. I have very fair skin and regardless of how light of a spray color they use I ALWAYS turn out to be orange. I usually end up with one spot that gets no color at all and the last time I went the girl must have been inexperienced and my ankles stayed orange long after the rest of the tan faded Smiley sad I'll be skipping the spray tan for my wedding lol

I have a funny story about spray tans. Lol My best friend was getting married as I was working in an indoor water park. She got a coupon for a bogo tan so you could bring a friend. My friend although Olive skinned is white and I'm medium dark skinned black. Both of us tan SUPER quickly naturally. So she thought it would be awesome if I went with her to go get this spray tan. There were 5 levels to choose from 1 being lightest and 5 darkest. Granted it looked okay but upon my reveal people kept asking me if I got the 5. I don't think some people realized I am black. lol We've never laughed so hard. To make matters even more ridiculous the water park has glass that promotes tanning while blocking harmful rays. I was so dark from the spray tans and tanning her photographer had to use special lights so I wouldn't wash the rest of the bridal party out. There's only one photo in that you can't see me other than eyes and teeth because of the natural shadow. Lol

If you've never had one, I would not get one the first time for your wedding day! If you live somewhere where you can still lay out by the pool in November lol, definitely do that instead.
