Itty bitty titty committee members...

Hi guys. First post here. I have chosen and picked up my wedding dress, which I love. However, I am small chested (34A) (which I actually really don’t mind! shout out to the IBTC) , but it makes for some challenges in the wedding dress department. When I tried on the sample, I knew it would be a bit big, and figured the bust would look smaller once in my correct size. Well the dress came in, and it fits me perfectly every where but the chest... I feel like I’m swimming quite a bit and somewhat Madonna looking. The bridal shop consultant seemed to think the seamstress wouldn’t have a problem tightening/taking the bust in.... but that’s not til August. There is some boning in the bust. I’m kinda freaking out not knowing how it’ll look. While I’m open to pad inserts sewn in and chicken cutlets to enhance my bust, I also really want to look natural (I don’t have enough breast to really create cleavage and it looks weird when you have a bust but no cleavage)... I just don’t want people to be shocked. Has anyone with a small chest dealt with this with their wedding dress?? Did it end up looking natural?

There shouldn’t be a problem taking in a busy. I’m not a part of the committee but I’ve seen a few people whose dresses needed those adjustments and they looked just fine.

I went with a dress made in my size because I’m way smaller ln every category but a good seamstress should be able to take it in.

if you’re worried about a particular detail talk to the seamstress and show them what you want to preserve and ask how thry would do it. They can probably take it in from back if you’re worried about detailing in front

I bought off the rack and my dress was way too big up top (like I could look down my dress), and I’m not tiny (DDs). Seamstress took it in no problem and my dress looks great!(I have boning as well) If you get a seamstress that knows what they’re doing youll be fine 😊

I’m a 32A so I had the same problem! My dress was a 00 and the bust area was still too large and they were unable to take it in...I had them sew in cups and then I wore one of those sticky bras and it seemed to work well!

IBTC unite! I'm really worried about once I start dress shopping, I love strapless and sweetheart necklines, but don't have the boobage to fill them out.l (32A but I think I'm actually AA). I'm considering option with an illusion neckline so I can have the sweetheart neckline I like without worrying about the dress going down too low, but still, no cleavage. Smiley sad
It's hard to say without seeing the dress, can we see it? I would definitely talk to the seamstress about your concerns and show her the areas you want taken in and adjusted. Maybe she can pin it to make it smaller so you can see what it might actually fit like taken in.

I am currently having the same issue. I had to order the dress in a 6, but my bust is a size 2. The dress has boning and a low back, so it is difficult for them to take it in. The seamstress seems to think that the shape looks great and that we can just fill in the bust with padding, but this is not the look I am going for. I agree I think it looks unnatural and I think it will make it awkward to move. I am working towards a resolution with my seamstress and I will let you know what happens.

Thanks for all the replies guys! My appointment with the seamstress isn’t until early August so I have a ways to wait. I did purchase some chicken cutlets to see if that helps fill out the top of it. Might try to get in with the seamstress sooner if that doesn’t do the trick. Definitely let me know Sarah how things go! You and I sound like we are in the same boat....Hopefully it will just all work out and look great!

Just an update - I had another fitting last night to discuss alterations with the top. Based on the alterations that my seamstress has done so far, I am trusting her - but removing/altering boning was not something she had done so far and she thinks that it will be very difficult to put the boning back in (flush with the dress) based on where it is placed and the lace in my dress. She is going to take out a little bit for me to show me what it looks like and I will go back in a few weeks. I also tried to dance around (moving my arms all over the place) and showed her how it kind of hovered off of my chest and she is also going to take a little bit in in the v-shape, which seemed to help a lot.

Basically, I think it is really dependent on your specific dress. For example, she told me she could make it stick out less if she could take it in in the back, but since my dress is backless we do not have that option. My suggestion is that you try to get into the seamstress as soon as possible to discuss options with the seamstress and leave you enough time to take it to get a second opinion if needed. Although the bridal consultants said it should not be an issue, I would want to talk to an actual seamstress (I found some discrepancies between what the two have told me). You can always schedule a "touch up" appointment closer to your date to make small alterations for any weight change.

I will keep you updated on how this turns out when I go back in a few weeks! If you don't mind me asking, what designer is your dress? What does it look like?

Everything will work out! Just take advantage of the time you have!

I am definitely not part of the IBTC, lol, but am oddly facing a similar issue. My rib cage is tiny and goes straight down, so even though I have big boobs, you can’t really tell unless I wear a tight shirt. So my hips and waist are a size 8 and my bust measures a 2/4. My dress is swimming on me up top.
