It’s okay, right?

It’s okay to have a non-traditional Christian wedding ceremony, right? No unity candle, I want to take communion and have our families take it as well, I don’t want bridemaids(my first wedding and I’m in my mid 30’s), and no groomsmen. My future husband has teenage triplets. How can I include them? I want them to be included, but not in a childish way.

Also, what about multiple pastors covering the ceremony? Thoughts?
Just thinking...

Hey Ashley, congratulations on your engagement! There's absolutely nothing wrong with having a non-traditional wedding ceremony Smiley smile As for the triplets, could they be ushers? Or maybe pass out ceremony programs?

Hi...you have to find the right person to officiate who can incorporate those things for you. I found a Bishop who knows I want a Catholic ceremony but we can't do that because my fiancé was already married in the church before so he is going to make our ceremony as Catholic as he can without overstepping the faith. We are having communion as well. We aren't having bridesmaids or groomsmen either but I have two young adult sons and he has 2 teen girls and a 9 yr old son who will all be walking but none will be standing with us.

You can do whatever you want! Something with communion and multiple pastors would be beautiful and very personal to you! Check around with officiant companies near you, most of them will personalize everything about the ceremony, coordinate with other vendors, whatever you need.

Maybe his daughters would be willing to do readings for the ceremony? You could include them in your vows, maybe even give them a gift like matching bracelets or something, promising to always support them.

We're having a super untraditional ceremony, but we're both Christian so we spent a lot of time making sure that we found an officiant who was going to hold marriage with the same holy regard as we do. We won't be doing anything else, just praying over the ceremony and knowing that it will be done by someone who will be inviting the Holy Spirit Smiley smile
