Maybe line the inside of the dress with alight fabric that is breathable? I bet your seamstress can do that for you.

You have tulle all the way up by your chest? thats different. But like Jennifer said- i'd recommend lining it with another, softer, fabric. Tulle will loose some of it's stiffness the more it's handles, but as it looses it's stiffness it also looses it's shape- so I probably wouldn't recommend purposefully wearing it down.

They cant really do that since it is see through all at the top, maybe a small piece which we discussed but I was just wondering if anyone had any tricks to soften the tulle or make it not itch?

I have heard clear nail polish, vaseline, tape? Has anyone tried any of these things? do they work?

    Thanks!

What about rubbing the inside of the dress with a fabric softener sheet?

Well, like I said the more "broken in" tulle gets the softer it is. but it will loose some of it's body and stiffness. just handling the tulle will help soften it. if you can scrunching it and un-scrunching it would help. I don't think tape would help because it's just as stiff as the tulle and the edges would scratch, but nail polish might help, but it also might show.

do you have a picture of your dress? then maybe we could see what might be possible to do without it showing.

I've heard baby powder can help as a barrier as well.

the tulle i'm experienced with is in skirts, so if it itched i always wore tights, so i haven't tried much. sorry.

You could have it lined with silk chiffon, which is more sheer than polyester chiffon.

Since it is a natural fiber, it would be breathable too.

I am having this problem too- my skin gets red and itchy really fast wherever there is tulle, and I can't line it with anything softer- problem-o!! But my seamstress says baby powder on my skin wherever the tool touches will do the trick. I hope it works!
