itchy lace neckline

Private User, on September 18, 2016 at 8:16 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 2 15

Hello ladies! i am in a bit of a predicament: the top of the lace that's on the neckline of my dress rubs against my neck and makes the side of my neck blotchy looking and red. i had a alteration appointment yesterday and the seamstress said she couldn't do anything about it. the consultant at the dress store suggested I rub clear chapstick or vaseline on my neck and it would keep my neck from getting red. Anybody having this issue or have some advice?

Could they line it with something sheer to give you a little extra protection without changing the appearance too much?

Maybe use some of the stuff runners use to prevent blisters? I'm very much not a runner so I can't think what it's called. Can someone else help?

Yes I'll post a picture! They lined the bottom of the neckline with a sheer fabric which helped a lot but they couldn't do the top of the lace because it's thin and it would show through.

Can you maybe sew some soft fabric to the underside of the neckline or would it show through? It hard to tell from the picture

Here's the dress on me. Maybe this will help. The lace is to thin and delicate to sew extra fabric. I was thinking of maybe putting a few tiny pieces of fabric tape?

It's pretty! Thanks for posting a pic, I was having such a hard time picturing it. Runner's glide seems like a great option. I think a PP was talking about mole skin but I think that may show under the lace.

Will the runners glide be more effective than the Vaseline the consultant recommended?

The Vaseline will rub off on your dress. The runners glide will stay better.

Eta just remembered another idea. You can try liquid bandaid. I used to use it on my heals to prevent blisters.
