It happened to me...someone added an uninvited guest to an Rsvp!

Andrea, on September 4, 2019 at 5:38 AM Posted in Planning 0 16
We are having a small wedding of about 60.
We’ve received nearly all of our RSVP’s and it happened! Someone added an extra person to their card. It’s a friend of FH’s. He and his wife added their 14 year old daughter. It’s not a huge deal at all, as we have plenty of food and space. I just never thought it would happen to me!

If you have the food, then the more the merrier! Haha I'm waiting for it to happen to us! However, most of the guests are on fh side of the family, so the task of deciding if we have room for it has been placed on them. Thankfully I won't have to be the bearer of bad news if we have to say no to a plus one. Were having about the same amount of people 60- 65

    Welcome to 👰101!

Lesson 1: People will try you re: extra guests.

Lesson 2: When you’ve had enough, you will find your voice and use it.

I have a voice. I just don’t think it’s worth using to exclude one girl.

It was just general advice. I had to add someone’s 13 yo, even though I believe that she could stay at home alone.

Something like this happened to me. I invited my cousin with his wife, they split up two weeks ago, so I just assumed since his mom lived with them I just assumed that he would bring his mom instead. But he told one of my sisters that’s close to him that he is bringing his niece which makes me a bit uncomfortable since I couldn’t invite her mother and I didn’t go as far as third and fourth cousins 🤦🏻‍♀️😩

Yup! Happened to me too! Actually, 2 guests did. But we can handle it and it worked out so not a big deal. Our wedding is on Saturday and I can't wait for all this planning to be over! Managing the guest list has been the most stressful part of planning for me!

You're accepting this so gracefully! I don't understand why people feel entitled to add other people

I totally feel ya! We’ve had this happen 3 times! 1 family included their grown son who does not live at home, another is a single lady so I have no clue who she added to her rsvp and another couple just told us that they couldn’t come but their son and DIL who live in another state would take their place. Who we didn’t invite because we don’t know them that well. 🤦🏼‍♀️ And we are over the amount currently that we were aiming for. Rsvp date is Friday. Can’t wait for this to be done.

I'm waiting for it to happen to me, so i'm adding a bit of a buffer of food and drinks to cover a reasonable amount

I had that happen. I invited one of my clients(I'm a hairstylist)who I've also known since I was 5. Her son was one of my very near & dear friends growing but once we graduated high school we parted ways. Anyways, I invited her & her husband. She added her son to the RSVP, honestly I'm not even surprised, & I'm really excited he's going to be there.

Agreed! I think I'd be a little grumpy with this - whether I had room or not. Maybe that's my "bridezilla" coming out, but it's just a little rude lol. How wonderful of you to accept the extra guest though!
