Issues with quality of Minted Stds, anyone else?

Lina, on January 6, 2018 at 9:26 PM Posted in Planning 0 14

My FH and I ordered our STD through minted. They came to us great but they were packaged up. I guess because we just got postcards for our STDs, when we mailed them out to our guests, I got several text messages from people that indicated the color on the paper rubbed off and some of the ink was illegible. Has this happened to anyone else? From the pictures our guests sent me they ranged from looking ok to pretty bad.

I'd like to use Minted for our invitations but I am a bit afraid they will turn out just as bad when mailed (even with an envelope). Is this something I should complain about..maybe we could get a discount or our money back?!

I'm not sure if you can get your money back. Looks like they had a rough time traveling in the snow storm perhaps. Maybe you'd like to invest in inner envelopes for the actual invitations.

I did my stds with minted and didn't have this problem. But they do have different artists. I do think their customer service is pretty good. Much better than other places.

With postcards you risk this problem. I read about this happening to several people so while I originally wanted to get postcards (to save a few bucks), we went with envelopes instead.

I don't think this will happen with an envelope. Not sure about getting your money back either.

We used Minted for STDs, but we used envelopes. I don't think any of them had any issues, but obviously postcards are more of a risk due to nothing protecting them.

I've read similar posts about postcard STDs, that they are easily damaged in the mail-- and I think each post states the postcards are from a different vendor! We got our STDs from Minted (and 4 years worth of Christmas cards) and have never had an issue.

I don’t think this is minted’s issue. When you take the cheaper with postcards that are unprotected from the elements, you risk them being damaged by snow/rain. I ordered magnet STD’s from minted and they were beautiful. Everyone has commented on them and how much they loved the pre printed envelopes minted includes.

In regards to ordering your invites from them, I wouldn’t worry about them getting damaged as they will have envelopes. If you’re worried about quality but like their designs, order a few samples before investing! I know they certainly are not the cheapest of wedding stationary sites so you want to be happy!

I would send pictures to Minted customer service. They might try to make it right. The worst they can say is no.

Same as POs: you run this risk w postcards. I’ve heard of some people putting their postcards in envelopes to protect them from getting scratched up.

Your invitations will be fine in an envelope.

I didn't use minted, but I know this is more of an unfortunate postcard problem...
I do mail pickup and processing for the company I work for, and post cards always come to us the most eaten alive, with gross post office marks and stamps, extra printing, and sometimes dropped in liquid or puddles, stepped on or even ran over by tires. This is just an unfortunate issue with post cards.
If you ordered enveloped invites I doubt you would have this issue, as all the marks would be on the envelope and not your paper products.

We got our STDs from Minted and had no issues, but we didn't get postcards. Ours were mailed in envelopes. I saw a few of our STDs hanging on the fridge when visiting a few of our guests, so really, I know there wasn't any damage.

This sounds like a postcard issue, nit a Minted quality issue. I've received a number of postcard STDs/Christmas postcards in the mail from friends and family in the past (all ordered from different companies) and every single one of them sustains at least a little damage in the mail. They're always kinda dirty, bent at the corners, and have scratches in the design on the card. This is normal for postcards. Your wedding invitations mailed in envelopes should be just fine, no matter where you choose to order them.

We did invitations with Minted, and sent them out in the winter, with lots of snow and rain. They were just fine in the envelope.

Mine had the rose gold foil and they came out beautiful. I think OPs issue is they did postcards my save the dates didnt have this issue because we used envelopes. Also you shouldnt send these things when there is snow or rain in the forecast.

Unfortunately while postcards are a cheaper (and sometimes seems easier) alternative this is just a risk you run. This isn't a Minted issue. They might help you out but because it wasn't technically their fault, I don't see much they can do unless they send you new ones. I probably would have looked at the weather forecast and planned around it. Honestly, I ordered my STD's on sale at Vistaprint for cheaper than the minted postcards and they have envelopes. I've heard tons of horror stories on postcards being delivered with watermarks, crinkled, ripped, etc.

In my opinion, if you're going to spend the money to send out STD's spend the extra $50-ish bucks for envelopes.
