Island Climate Wedding Vent!!

Mariana, on October 17, 2019 at 8:06 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 3
I need to share with you guys some thoughts and moments I've had this week... I feel I'm not surrounded by anyone I can talk to about this because I feel no one actually cares as much. I'm going over the final details and still finishing my last DIYs (and the wedding's on saturday thanks) and I...don't...feel...ANYTHING. Everyone keeps asking us how do we feel or if we're excited and all that and my answer always is "At least he is, because I haven't been able to enjoy anything at all" and he always gives me a reassured kiss 😔 I just feel really overwhelmed by literally everything. I feel something's going to go wrong or on the ceremony or reception or honeymoon or flights or hotel or everything at the same time and I feel really ashamed...ashamed of not enjoying this and feeling completely hateful 😔 Plus I don't know why I didn't think of a plan b in case it rained (living in an island, i know, my stupid a**) and stuck my foot on having my dream wedding outdoors. This week's been nothing but RAIN AND THUNDERSTORMS every single afternoon. I'll have covered tents so we won't get wet, but it just frustrates me how every morning is gorgeous and sunny and breezy and just at about 4/4:30pm (wedding starts at 3:30) the climate turns to its worst!! I just feel overwhelmed over everything and feel the worst person ever.

Hi! I'm so sorry this is your experience. You never know, weather has a way of surprising us. Also, if you believe in superstitions, apparently rain on wedding days are good luck because a knot is harder to untie when its wet. Anyway, I would really encourage you to do two things:

First, stop thinking about what will go wrong. It hasn't gone wrong yet and these stressors will clearly take your joy. We often spend so much time thinking about what CAN go wrong that we aren't grateful for all that is right and by the time we make it through, we missed out because of our anxiety. BREATHE.

Second, for all the things you think will go wrong, have a back up plan that YOU can control. However, hope, pray and wish for the best over the things that you can't control. It's so common to miss out on your perfectly planned day by getting filled with anxiety and stress. You're here. It's almost happening. Your work will pay off. BREATHE.

I wish you the best and congratulations!

Take a step back and breathe! You've put so much work into it and it will pay off. You get to marry the man of your dreams! Since your wedding is Saturday do you have any pampering planned? Maybe even just an hour to get your nails done and relax could help. Its so easy to think of everything that can go wrong, but you can't focus on that. Maybe you and FH could go out tonight (if you don't have too much to do) and just be couple, no wedding talk to get your mind off of things.
