Is this true...social distancing til 2022?

Vall, on April 14, 2020 at 2:06 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 13

Scientist are now saying that we will need to continue social distancing until 2022 unless a vaccine is made soon. I work in a stressful environment already but this is blowing my mind. What about asymptomatic people, how are we handling this? This virus is like the boogie man.

There’s no way we could keep the country shut down that long. I’m sure we will have to keep our distance for a while.

So true, but how are we suppose work, live, and play with social distancing in place for that long. Its going to be a constant revaluation on every aspect of our lives.

There's a lot unknown about this virus. however i will say that when life comes back to its normalcy, i do feel like certain things will change such as large stadiums and anywhere with immense foot traffic and crowds will probably be sanitized and cleaned differently or have temperature checks or something, etc. with that being said, i agree with PP that two years is a lot of time and hopefully it doesn't get that way but it could also be people just theorizing since again, there's a lot of things we yet to know about this virus

I don't think that is even possible. Considering how much of a hit the economy has taken already; it would be unreasonable and unfounded to have social distancing in place. I have heard that shaking one another's hands might not be a good idea for quite awhile but that makes sense. I could also understand if the gradually go back to normal; such as groups of 20, 50, etc. I think by the time August rolls around group gatherings should be able to increase to somewhat normal.

Thats the problem, there is alot unknown about this virus and so far things are changing everyday. Like in the north of Italy some people are testing positive after symptoms are long gone. This ever changing environment is making it difficult to decide if I should move my wedding. I dont want to move if we are dealing with this same situation next yr.

I'm not sure there you herd this information from. I live in NY and our Governor wants everything back and running SOON. If business and schools are closed for two years then you would see alot more happening in the US then the problems we are facing with this virus. I feel if this was true more people would be dying of murder and suicide then the rates of the virus.

It was on CNN, a Harvard scientist wrote the article. I didn't say stay closed (a lockdown) I said social distancing. You can still go out to an extent and have social distancing.. like many restaurants, shops etc are doing now.

I looked up the article and it had very little information. This is wildly unlikely to happen. I really think you will be okay for your Aug wedding. If anything there will probably be a second wave in the fall, not as many people will be infected as this wave though. It is also best to look at what CDC, WHO and your state gov is saying. These are the only resources we can trust at this point.

What I have seen is projections that some aspects of environmental cleaning and social distancing will have to be incorporated into long term planning, if it turns out that no one who has had the virus gets immunity. Because then, like the common cold, people who get it now can get it all over again in 9-10 months, until there is a vaccine. Many of what we call the common cold viruses, you get them over and over again through the years, are corona viruses.
And the flu, any strains not in this year's vaccine, you can still get. But if having the virus gives you some immunity, that if you get it again, you are likely to have a milder case, no deaths: or if like measles a d other diseases after getting it once you never get that same thing again, then once most people have been exposed, severe restrictions won't be observed. As with most years of flu. But they may ramp up public health the way it was before measles, mumps and other vaccines we're. My mother remembers, and some of our older eleme tary schools and work places dating to before 1965, show day care, And K - 3 classrooms with their own bathrooms. And extra hand washing sinks right in the rooms. So kids in constant touch themselves and touch everything mode, do not wait 2-5 hours til they go to a bathroom to wash. And school and work cafeterias or break rooms all have a bank of soap up and rinse under sprayer type sinks as you wait in line, or before you go to tables. Not, kids touch every doorway, door, desk , table, whatever, with li ited opportunity to wash, as sinks are in bathrooms only. And my mom and grandmother's sis remember the time every student desk got washed, end of school every day. And kids did not sit on unwashable pillows and carpet squares. And desks we're a regulation distance apart, and train seats, planes, be sees could not run packed in. As a mom, and a health care professional, I wouldive to see buildings built with more fresh air, not small rooms and recycled air. And handwashing si ks in schools and workplaces. Last 2 day or overnight surgeries I had in brand new hospital wings, patient toilets were down the hall. And you could not wash your hands after sneezing or coughing, or before or after eating. I came out of an emergency, stay in bed hospitalization, with hands and arms not washed for 3 days. I could not do it. Barely conscious for most, and to dizzy to go to a sink. And asking Staff got zip. Staff did not. Actual streaks of dirt.
So I think some people are stirring things up when they say social distancing and all precautions will last year's. But this might be a wake-up call to stop spending more on bringing high tech into schools, and more on handwashing and routine cleaning. And the airlin s might not be able to sit people 22 inches apart, to fit one third more people in planes. And building cod s for public spaces, and number of max people in a spa e, may go down. I would live not to drive my kids to school, or send them on bikes, when the buses are safe, and stops safe. But elementary school to 4th grade, they expect 3 kids per seat. Germ scity. One coughs, you all have it. Seats and seat backs they wash once a month. So maybe, more reasonable social distancing by design? That might be a good idea for public health again. Places for people to wash, for starters.

Wow! I haven't heard that until now. Although I did hear that concerts might not return until Fall 2021. At this point, who knows what's going to happen. I am sooo very sorry to the brides & grooms who had to reschedule their weddings. Especially those who ended up pushing a whole nother year out -- that's gotta hurt.

    I hope everyone's staying safe & healthy!

I totally get where you're coming from but with Capitalism the pulse of America, we are a long way with less children in classes etc.. As soon as we find a vaccine I fear that we will go right back to our old habits.
