Is this dress dated?

Is this dress dated? 1
I bought this dress on a sample sale. I loved how it looked on me and that was with no alterations so I hope it looks extra amazing once the alterations are done. I showed it to my mom and SIL and they both hated the dress saying it was an old lady style and that I looked like a tablecloth. My maid of honor said it was “cute” but I know both my SIL and MOH have had trendy tule dresses for their wedding so I feel like I made a terrible choice going too simple. However a part of me feels there’s a difference between a trendy dress vs a classic dress and both styles look nice respectively.

Absolutely nothing about this dress says “old lady”. It sounds like maybe they are just associating the type of lace on your dress with a particular memory specific to them (maybe grandma used a lace tablecloth and now they just associate lace with her?) Either way, it is a beautiful and feminine dress!

There is nothing “old lady” about that dress. Unless old ladies have perfect model hour glass figures without an ounce of fat or gravity. An “old lady” Lace vs no lace is personal preference. What they are describing would be no skin showing, nothing form fitting, probably puffed sleeves of some kind, which is the opposite of this dress. If you love it, their opinions don’t matter because they aren’t wearing it. From here on out, don’t share details or information with them because they are judgmental.

Wow!! No, not dated at all!!! That's a gorgeous dress, and it looks fantastic on you!!! When I read the title of the post, I was expecting to see a style of dress that was very popular in the 90s or early 2000s.....I was shocked to see such a timeless, beautiful gown!!!

I agree with the others! It looks great on you! I don't think it's dated at all, I think it's quite modern - whilst the lace pattern is quite traditional, the style of the dress means it isn't old lady-ish at all.

And it sounds like it was a bargain!

The thing about weddings is that not everyone likes the same thing, and that's ok! Your mother/sister/whoever have the choice to have what they want/ed for their weddings, and you get to pick what you want for yours.

    Rock your beautiful lace dress!

I think they meant to use timeless. Lace is one of those things that never goes out of style and it (and you) are GORGEOUS!
