Is this cultural appropriation?

PressTheStarKey, on October 8, 2016 at 10:33 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 5

I am in LOVE with the look of a Mantilla veil worn over a low bun. I was originally #teamnoveil but now I'm wavering.

As a WASP, can I wear a Mantilla veil? From what I understand, they were originally meant for Hispanic Catholic brides for shoulder coverage.

I've seen many brides wear them without being Hispanic.

I dont think that anyone would judge you. A lot of people use different aspects that may not come from their own heritage.

If you're not doing it as a costume or a theme and it's part of your inspiration for a wedding look, as a Hispanic (ex) Catholic, I can tell you there's nothing wrong.. there's no religious connection with them other than modesty, they're so beautiful aren't they? I want one too even though I don't practice catholicism anymore

It's definitely not part of a theme/costume. I still don't fully understand wedding "themes" lol. They are absolutely gorgeous!! In my opinion, so much more so than regular veils.

    Thank y'all for the assurance!
