Is there a difference between a regular tailor, and someone who does wedding dress alterations?

Sarah, on January 26, 2020 at 2:35 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 4
I'm beginning to look for someone to do the alterations on my wedding dress. I need it bustled, pockets added, and one minor repair. Could I take that to a well-reviewed tailor? Or should I look for someone who specializes in wedding dress alterations? Is there a difference?

I think it depends. I would call and see if they’ve done wedding dress alterations before. If not, I would try to find a well-reviewed tailor who also specializes in wedding dress alterations.

I would go to someone who is experienced with wedding dresses. There's a big difference between hemming a pair of pants and hemming a 7 layer lace wedding dress.

I would go to someone the specializes in bridal wear, especially since you’ll be adding pockets. They’ll also know the best way to bustle your specific dress style.

I think there is a big difference! My fiancé’s mom works at CC’s bridal couture and her seamstress’s do so much and it is very precise. And the bustle alone is very intricate so seamstresses that specialize in wedding dresses is your best bet. I hope this helped and you can find who you’re looking for!
