Is the dress too low cut?

Is the dress too low cut? 1

I am not super conservative but I am used to wearing more modest clothing. I absolutely love this dress but I am unsure about the neck line.

Ignore the gathering of the dress. The woman helping us was holding the straps to get a better feel for how it would look after they were altered, you can see her in the mirror lol. She was awesome.

Here is a better view of the dress details. I love everything about it. I love the lace, the shape it gives me, and the beading detail on the bodice. I feel like I need an unbiased opinion before I can make a decision.

Beautiful dress!! If you are worried that it's too low cut, are there any alterations that can be done to make it a little more covered? Or can you custom order the dress with a slightly different neckline?

It is a low neckline, but I LOVE IT!!!! I don't usually wear anything that low cut either, but I would wear this. It's so beautiful!!!!

You look fantastic!!!! Take a chance!

Lisa - I can't custom order a different neckline as this designer is no longer in business and I would be purchasing the actual dress I am wearing in the photos so an alteration would be my only option. The neckline has some beautiful bead piping though so I don't know how alterations would work without ruining the overall aesthetic.

It is rather low cut. It looks especially low cut on the one side compared to the other.

It's a beautiful dress and it looks AMAZING on you. If you love it, then that's all that matters. My dress is also pretty low cut and I love it. #noregrets

That makes sense! I truly think it's beautiful as-is, but you're the one that has to be comfortable wearing it. If you love it as it currently is, I say go for it!! Otherwise, if you want it to be a little more covered, I'm sure a seamstress could attach a lining near where the sheer part is at the bottom of the V. That probably wouldn't be a super expensive alteration, they should be able to do that for fairly cheap.

The neckline is obviously low. But whether it’s “too low“ is a decision based on personal comfort. I actually really like the dress!!!!

It is *very* lowcut. Beautiful though. If you are marrying in a church or have conservative firnds/family, it could cause tension if it's even allowed. Have you already purchased it ?

The dress is gorgeous and it fits you so well! The neckline doesn’t even phase me, but if you’re feeling self conscious then consider a modesty panel.

It’s a gorgeous dress that looks amazing on you! That being said, only you would know if it’s too low cut for your taste. As Marisa stated, you could have a modesty panel added. As a pp mentioned, if you’re marrying in a church, would it be allowed? It’s a very stunning dress, though!

I think it just needs to be altered to provide more support. You say the straps are a little loose, once fixed the bodice should hug you like a glove. Otherwise, it really does look lovely.

It’s really all a matter of if you’re comfortable in it. With my gown, I was not, I tried talking myself into being comfortable but I just couldn’t. My seamstress put a beaded modesty panel in the middle, it changed the neckline (became more straight across than the v shape I had before.). But I really loved how it looked. So it’s completely up to you. But listen to your gut, you don’t want to feel self conscious on your wedding day!! Btw your gown is beautiful!!
    Here’s how mine looked:

I love that! I will have more discussions about what the alterations would be.

Beautiful dress! I think once it is altered and fits you like a glove, the neckline wont seem as low.

I think it’s absolutely gorgeous and looks amazing on you!! I personally don’t think there’s anything wrong with it being that low cut, but it’s whatever you’re comfortable with. Altering the neckline for more modesty by adding a modesty panel or even just sewing the two sides together to make the bottom of the V not as low would be a simple alteration that might make you feel more comfortable. If you feel like the dress is the one, I wouldn’t let something that could be easily altered stop you from getting it!

That dress is absolutely gorgeous on you! I had a similar situation with my dress and my seamstress took some of the extra material from my dress and added an extra sparkly layer to the panel to make it a little more modest. My dress had a very low neckline and the waist area was actually see through as well.

If you feel comfortable with how the dress looks on you, I would just leave it as is! I think it looks beautiful!
Here’s a picture to show my dress and the panel she added, it’s just not as see through than the original panel alone.

I like that look! The hardest part has been that I haven't been able to visualize what it would look like with the alteration. This is a huge help! Thanks!
