Is second guessing dress normal?

I am getting married on April 19, 2013 and I bought my dress last month. I was watching "Say Yes to the Dress" and all these brides seem to know the dress when they find it. I am getting married on April 19, 2013 and I bought my dress last month. I was watching "Say Yes to the Dress" and all these brides seem to know the dress when they find it. I did not have this feeling and I am now worried that I picked too soon. The dress hasn't been altered I am still waiting on it to come in. I liked it better when I had a smaller size on so altering may make the difference.

Any advice? Should I go looking again?

Does David's Bridal ever return or exchange for another?

David's Bridal is usually really good about returning dresses. It's a gorgeous dress, though! Smiley smile Good luck!

Only you can say if alterations are going to make you feel special in it. That is what is important. I also watch Say yes to the dress. I only paid $200 for my dress. I knew immediately on putting it on. When I look at other major expensive dresses yea I want them. But in a price point I could NEVER have. I live my dress so much My friend and I jumped up and down and said this is it. I had come in with a style book and it was the 3rd dress I tried on.

Ok, so I went back to David's Bridal and tried on two other dresses and then my dress. I believe it is still the one. I looks so much better live! I do feel beautiful and sexy in it. I'm sure when I've dropped my last 20lbs and the dress is altered it will be perfect.

I have to remember those pictures were only two/three weeks after surgery and the lighting in DB really sucks. Add to that I hate all pictures of me and raging hormones...and then the doubt is out of control.

Thank you all for your kind words and helping to realize this is a normal feeling. No more "Say Yes to the Dress" for me. :-)

Beth, I just went to David's Bridal a few days ago to try dresses on for the first time. Let me just tell you, all of my pictures make me look fat and ugly. I know I'm not drop dead gorgeous.. but I'm not fat or ugly.. lol. SO. Be encouraged. I didn't like David's Bridal anyway. My consultant was awful. she kept saying things about my size and weight and when I wanted to try a veil that had lace on the edge, she flat-out said "NO!" Her reasoning? because there was no lace in the dress. I was seriously annoyed by that.. lol Smiley smile

Yeah, I went to 3 different DB's in Pittsburgh. Different experiences in all them. One consultant tried to discourage me from trying a ball gown dress because she said I wouldn't like it. I insisted and I loved the dress. It was in the top two. She was working two brides at once and you could tell she was tired. Lauren in the North Hills was amazing and took her time with me. I ended up giving her the sale. My experience in other bridal stores was similar so I went with price.

While I am ranting what is with the wedding dress sizing in these stores. I wear a size 8 dress so my wedding gown will be a 10. Is this system designed to make brides feel bad about their size?

BTW Lydia if she was giving you a hard time about your size then I wonder what she would have thought about me.

I had the same issue. I bought my dress like right when I got engaged...then we got Netflix and I became obsessed with Say Yes to the Dress. I just felt like my dress was pretty but this is the one time in my life that I will ever wear a wedding dress and I didn't think it was "wow" enough. I called up David's Bridal and they agreed to exchange the dress, but they will NOT refund the money for you to just take and spend somewhere else. They applied the full amount of the dress to the next dress that I picked out which was $100 more than the old dress. They were very helpful and understanding. If you really want to exchange it for another dress in the store (especially if it is a little more expensive) they will make it work for you. I ended up having the same consultant from the first time and I left the store with the dress of my dreams.
