Is Royal Prestige Dinner for Two a scam?

Carrie, on January 23, 2016 at 2:45 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 9

I just got a phone call from a woman named Sherry telling me that my name had been drawn as a winner of a package from Dinner for Two after attending a wedding show in November. The package includes engraved champagne glasses and a choice between wedding bands or a 3 day vacation to the Bahamas or a couple other places. She kept emphasizing that I didn't have to buy anything or sign anything, but then said it would take 90 minutes and that my fiancee and I (she said we both had to be there) *had* to be there just before our designated time because "they start immediately" and we wouldn't be able to get in after that. The more I think about it the more it seems to good to be true. And if I won certain things, couldn't I just pick them up in like ten minutes or less? The fact that I have to sit through some 90 minutes seminar seems extremely fishy. Has anyone else had an experience with this company? Any advice would be very much appreciated!

It's a sales pitch. You win something for sitting through it.

Definitely try to find someone who has experience with this company.

As far as most of these things go though, often times there actually is some free component to it, but they will try to get you to upgrade in their seminar, and it's never a guarantee.

Ultimately you have to decide if the possibility of the prize strings free is worth that much of your time, and how disappointed you will be if it's nothing.

There have been a lot of threads posted about this recently. They're going to hound you to buy stuff.

Its a sales pitch - they didn't pick your name, they call everyone. The prizes usually come with an expensive catch. To me, it wouldn't be worth 90 minutes of our time.

Also, change your avatar to something other than the rings!

Search other post on here, it's a scam in my opinion! I went a couple weeks ago & was treated horrible bc I didn't want to purchase anything.

This is exactly how things like Time Shares work. If you opt for the vacation, they'll make you sit through another sales pitch there too.

I sat through one of these last night. Most "free" things come with a catch, and the catch is the sales pitch. However, we did get a free dinner out of it, and the product is quality. I ended up purchasing their food cutter. I didn't realize "Dinner for Two" and "Royal Prestige" were the same company, but I know many people who have these products. My grandma has had their products for over 30 years and hasn't even had to do a warranty claim on them. We did get all of the gifts that we "won" and the sales pitch was actually very fun to sit through.

It is a sales pitch and they aren't very nice if you don't buy anything.

Did you still get any of the “free” things they told you about?
