Is jumping the broom plus doing the sand ceremony redundant?

Future Mrs., on July 2, 2013 at 12:03 AM Posted in Planning 0 12

FH seems to thinks so since they both symbolize unity. I want to do the sand ceremony and then jump the broom at the end of the ceremony. I don't see the big deal if we did both.

I seen where both are done. The broom jumping is after the unity sand ceremony. It's no rules. I don't think one would cancel out the other. Both of them have separate meanings, jumping the broom (history/tradition) & Unity Sand (future/Uniting) have fun with it. we are going to have the Unity Sand ceremony with our children included.

No it's not they have different meanings. I'm jumping the broom and doing candle lighting.

No. They are different and I love the broom jump as the "entry" into a new life. Go for it!

We're are doing candle lighting. I think both the candle lighting and unity sand are both great incorporation of bringing two families together as one.

Nope. Sand ceremony is a symbol of unity. Jumping the broom symbolizes leaving everything behind, a "clean" start if you will

Okay thanks Ladies! I was thinking this, but at the moment I couldn't figure out how to explain it to him, so I'm going to explain it to him just like how you all did lol. I'm pretty excited about both.
