Is it weird to do mix of rock and hip hop for entrance songs

Jennifer, on September 15, 2021 at 1:30 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 8
Would it be weird to do a mix of rock and hip hop songs for our entrances? For parents we were thinking carry on wayward son by Kansas, bridal party would be don’t stop the party by pit bull and bride groom song would be I believe in a thing called love by the darkness. Is that a weird mix to have?

Thank you!

Just remember it only takes a minute or two for each group to walk in, so it might be a little whiplash to have so much change. But in the end, do what makes you happy!

Okay thank you! Do you know if most couples choose a different entrance song for parents, bridal party and couple? I’m just going based off of what our dj asked us for songs so if we should do a bit different I’d be okay with that too!

I'm not really sure! My first wedding, we just had a classical music playing during all entrances except mine. Curious to hear what others do!

We chose I Believe In A Thing Called Love for everyone's entrances! Like Samantha said, it only takes a couple seconds to be introduced, so it seemed a bit much to us to have multiple songs. The DJ turned down the music to make everyone's introductions (and announced who everyone was i.e. bride's parents, groom's parents, MOH and BM, etc.) so it's not like people didn't notice when each group was entering. Our DJ also gave us the option of a different song for each group but said it was totally normal to choose just one.

Thank you so much for the advice! I was just going based off the categories our dj offered us but maybe we’ll just cut it down to one or two songs then I still really like the hip hop song for the bridal party (not sure how parents would feel being introduced with it though) and still really like I believe in a thing called love too so not sure how I want to make that work lol 😂

Doesn't sound weird at all! Sounds like epic entrances for everyone!

If your DJ told you to pick three - well they are the experts! In most weddings I've been to it's either only one song for everyone or one song for the parents & bridal party then a different song for bride and groom. I think three could be alright but you should consider how many people will be walking into each one. For example, one set of parents plus a small bridal party is going to need a lot less time than two sets of grandparents, two sets of parents, and a bridal party of 14. Something else to consider - when you and your fiance are introduced will you be going right into your first dance (common)? If so, that's another quick song change and if that's the case I would probably lean towards walking in with the same song as your bridal party so you aren't playing one song for 15 second then switching again.
