It's probably one of the most boring things i can imagine. That said, is it rude to not open gifts at my shower? I would think I would be doing the guests a favor by saving them from such a snooze of an activity but maybe i'm the only one who thinks it's a big bore. What say you?

I agree that is it boring! I usually find showers dull but I know that people (esp the older generations) love them and love seeing the gifts. My church always has open showers for anyone connected to the church (no real invites but word of mouth meaning usually 75-100 people show up). They usually pass the gifts around and so you end up sitting around for like an hour pretending to be excited that they got a new pan.

That being said, it is a huge part of the shower and so expected. The clear wrapping is a good idea that could work too.

Yes you may find it a bore but some people like to see your reaction to what they got you.

You said you sent the invites out already, when is your shower? You aren't getting married until October of 2014.

@Shirlden, my shower is mid January. We are having it super early because my FH and I are moving end of January and won't know many people in our new city. It made more sense to have it where lots of our friends could attend.
