Is it rude to ask size?

plan2plan, on March 9, 2017 at 3:49 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 30

Is it rude to individually ask my bridesmaids for their sizes (S/M/L) for a button down shirt for getting ready for the wedding? Thanks!

Not rude at all. Way better than guessing and being wrong.

It wouldn't come off as rude to me if one of my nearest and dearest asked for my size, especially if they told me why they needed it. I think you're fine.

I'd hope that you're close enough to your bridesmaids that this shouldn't be an issue.

No, I'd rather be asked than for someone to assume my size and get it wrong.

Nope. I would prefer being asked my size than someone guessing wrong.

Nope! Just make sure they know it's for a button down. A medium t-shirt fits me, but I need a bigger button down so I don't get that lovely boob gap

Definitely not rude but you should let them know it's a button down! I'm usually a medium but in a button down I need at least a large, unless I want the boob gap

You probably would know your bridesmaids well enough for it to not be weird. It's definitely not rude!

They're your bridesmaids I'm sure you've talked about weirder things than that. Go ahead and asking sure they won't even question it.

I agree with others, definitely ask! Especially for button down shirts. I also am a little bigger on top than I appear & would more than likely have issues if someone guessed my size.

I wouldn't ask them to publicly disclose their sizes, but I'd check with them personally, I hate the look of buttons pulling, especially at the breast area -- hate, hate, hate it. If I'm going to be photographed and possibly end up in your wedding album in that shirt, then you need to know that the Large (or possibly XL, depending on the style and quality of the shirt) is going to cover without straining.
