Is it possible to add boning or a corset to dress?

Anita, on August 29, 2019 at 12:35 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7

I really like this dress that I tried on from Azazie however I was wondering if it would be possible to add boning or a corset in to give me a better figure and suck me in! I don't want the back changed to a corset back but just something added in the inner fabric to help shape me better.

Does anyone know if that would be possible with this dress? I attached some pictures and here is the link - https://www.azazie.com/products/azazie-marlin-wedding-dress?color=diamond-white

Thank you!!

What about wearing a corset under it instead off trying to sew one in?

Agreed with above, I’d just wear some shape wear. It’s such a thin material that it’s going to be very noticeable if you have a corset underneath or added, even just boning will easily be seen. Look for seamless shape wear (I’ve never worn spankx or anything like that so I can’t help you with a brand, but I know it’s out there)!

I think boning would stick out on a dress like that. I agree with Andrea.

No. If that's the look you want you should buy a corset dress. I know from having made them, they're very bulky, boning has to be sewn into channels with thick fabric so that it doesn't pop out. It would be expensive (if anyone would agree to do it) and not end up looking right.

    Definitely go for seamless shapewear.

Honestly adding boning to material like that would look super funky.

Is your dress lined? Is the outer shell silk?

If so, you can add a lightweight boning to the lining to get the fitted look you want. It won't be noticeable when you wear it as I've done it. One of the prom dresses I made was a light fabric like your dress and was lined and shaped with boning. Feel free to reply if you have more questions.

    Thanks everyone!

There is an lining and then the outer shell is a satin material I believe.

I was thinking shapewear however I was hoping to give me some curves if possible as I don't really have any lol
