Is it okay to start wedding at 6:15 pm???

I am wondering if it is proper to start a wedding at a quarter past the hour. I just am nervous about 6:00 being too soon. We're having it in a restaurant banquet room and we can't get into the room until 5:30 (unless no one uses the room for lunch).

I think I could start the whole shebang at 6:15 as long as the guests have all arrived by then.

*freaking out*

    Wait what? Why do you need to get in to the room a half hour early, I feel like that is an important detail.

    I don't see why not. What a lot of people do is put an earlier time on the invite (to make sure they arrive on time). For example my invite told people to be there at 3pm, but our ceremony wasn't set to start until 3:30pm. My officiant told me this was a good tatic to get people there on time.

    6:15 is good - as long as you feel you'll have enough time to set things up. Can you push it till 6:30? That way you'd have more time to relax and set up things. Unless, you need to be out by 7?

    We need to put the flowers up before guests arrive. Also set up music and whatnot.

    I'm wondering if 6:30 would be better. The ceremony is short, so it should really change the reception dinner.

    Actually, florist needs to set up flowers. The venue will set up chairs.
