Is it ok to have one favor per family or couple?

KristenMeowza, on July 15, 2014 at 2:06 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 8

We are having our favors of double as escort cards (inspiration pic attached). The label on the top of the jar of jam will have the person's name and their table number. Since we are also have a candy and dessert table in addition to the jam favors, I was wondering do you think it's ok to give one jam favor per family or couple instead of each person individually? We will have plenty of jars left over, so I was thinking if they don't like the flavor they got (or wanted a second one) they could take another jar.

Well, since you're using it as name/table identification, you should probably do one per person.

@Jenn That is what I was wondering, too, but since families and couples will be seated together at the same table anyway, I didn't know what the etiquette or rule was on that.

We're doing one favor per couple ... we're doing mini wine bottles and we are also attaching the escort card so both names will be written on one tag. so I def think it's okay.

BTW I got jam exactly like that as a favor at a wedding a few wks ago... awesome! They were really tasty and the tag said spread the love... they were cute!

If you have enough jars then definitely do one per person. I'm doing the same thing with our favors but I made two different kinds of herbed salts. Plus that way you aren't left with 20+ jars to pack up at the end of the night if people don't take extras Smiley smile

We also had home made jelly/jam as favors and we made one per person. But we didn't have assigned seating so they didn't double as escort cards. Lots of people took home multiples. They were a huge hit!

But what about for small children? Do they each get an escort card/favor or does it just go to the parents?

For example: A family of four with 2 small children, do I make 4 escort cards or 2?

For the small children, I would make 2 of those and then something child friendly like a coloring packet (with a coloring sheet and some crayons) or something else to entertain them
