Is it common to second guess your dress decision?

Danielle, on July 30, 2017 at 8:38 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 25

Finally found a dress and now I cannot help wondering if I made the right decision. 9 days and 9 bridal stores later. There is no going back, but I cannot calm my fear that I made the wrong decision.

I too am doing a little second guessing...not much you can do when you're 34 days out though. Good luck and listen to your gut. And not everyone has a "bridal moment" but it doesnt mean its wrong

I found a dress I loved, but it wasn't available for reorder, off the rack only. I decided to wait to check out other dresses, and when I went back to the other bridal store they had sold it already. I found a dress I love, but not as much as I loved the first one.

100% that was how I found these forums and so many ladies find themselves in your shoes. I did the same thing, at the store I cried, but when I got home and started looking at pictures I was a mess thinking I might have made the wrong choice. It took me thinking back at all of the things I didn't like about the other dresses and what I loved about the one I chose... To realize I made the right decision. Post pictures on here and get unbiased opinions. And the best advice that was given to me, on your wedding day no one else will know that there were even other dresses as an option.

I actually did second guess my dress because unfortunately I went with my dad and stepmom to pick my dress since my dad offered to help me pay. I tried on tons of dresses and there was one he absolutely loved which was actually my second choice. I picked a different dress than he did and he made me feel terrible about. He went as far as telling me I looked like I was wrapped in a mexican tablecloth. I bawled at the dress store but still picked my dress over his and he still put the down payment on the dress for me. All week long I was second guessing my dress and finally went back with my mom to a different David's bridal and tried on again TONS of dresses. Once I was done trying new dresses on the sales woman brought in the dress I chose and again I fell in love with it. It was in that moment I realized I was IN LOVE with my dress! I hope you get over the second guessing part soon and don't keep looking at other dresses cuz that confused the hell out of me too lol So i forced myself to stop dress shopping after buying my dress.

Thank you ladies. It was an off the rack after 9 days and 9 stores. It was the first time I felt a dress was flattering and comfortable. I had already been through picking my FSIL's dress the 1st night out, then loving a dress that was discontinued, needed cleaning work and major alterations... continued to multiple stores and even tried on the dress yesterday at another store (in ivory), loved the fit but thought the dress looked dated. Put it on today and it was 2 tone, so I still loved the fit, but loved the 2 tone. Now I'm worried my dress looks dated and in the pictures that I look wide although in person I felt like it slimmed me out. I also want to love it up close. No going back. It's a final sale and I can't go back but I need to be content with it. I cannot go shopping anymore. I don't know what I would do if I found something else.... I can't go back. I'm not good at making decisions and not second guessing myself, so this is normal for me... But hard under this circumstance with a big expense. Thank you so much ladies for the support.

I second guessed mine too. And I did end up getting a different dress. But I waited months before I went to the stores again.

I totally agree it is just a dress, but I HATE spending money. So spending a significant amount of money on anything makes me anxious, let alone something I'm paying thousands to have photographed (most expensive part of my wedding), and I feel like there's this weight of what everyone is expecting, including my groom... even though i know he'd be fine with me in white PJs. I'm a very low maintenance person when it comes to clothes... no makeup... hair in a pony tail, but I want to be stunning on this one day for him. He rarely gets to see the fancy me.

I was second guessing because of the picture I took at the bridal salon. As soon as I picked it up I raced home to put it on. I was reassured and took a breath. Don't over think it. If you felt beautiful buying it I am sure you will feel beautiful on your wedding day. I think the second guessing is very popular so don't sweat it!

I second guessed myself for months until my actual dress came in a few weeks ago. Don't worry when you try your dress on again you're going to love it Smiley smile

Yes, it's common to second guess your dress decision. Even more so if you're still looking at other dresses.

A wedding dress is the most expensive and over hyped garment ever, it makes total since to be nervous and second guess the decision.

I bought one dress and thought it was the one. Then I decided I didn't like it as much. I got a second dress and I couldn't be happier about it. It looked perfect on my wedding day!

I second guessed myself, too! My dress has sleeves, perfect for October...but it's been really hard seeing all these beautiful strapless / sleeveless numbers this spring/summer! My first fitting was very reassuring and luckily I'm very happy with my choice again!

Beautiful gown! I think it is common to second guess your dress. We are only 5 days away, and I am still questioning my dress. After I purchased my dress, I never went looking or shopping for wedding dresses again. I made my decision and that was it. I will admit that I fell in love with my dress again once it was altered and fit me perfectly.

YES. TOTALLY NORMAL. I did that same thing right after I bought mine. Like, literally the same night! I panicked for months, had crazy stress dreams, and even called to figure out return policies. When I called the shop was super gracious and assured me it was normal. When my dress finally came in last month I absolutely loved it! All of my fears went away. It's very common- such a big decision! Your dress is absolutely gorgeous and you will be beautiful in it! :]
