Is it cheesy to put a different dress for our first dance salsa routine then change back into my gown?

Carol, on June 17, 2017 at 7:06 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 1 9

Hello brides! I have a dilemma. I have a gorgeous bridal gown, but it may not be as appealing to wear it for our first dance salsa routine. Would it be cheesy if a wear a more comfortable dress for the first dance then switch back to my gown when it's done? Help!

I don't think you can properly salsa in a wedding gown, lol. I think it depends on how elaborate each dress is. You don't want to miss your reception getting changed. If you think you can do it fast, I don't think it's cheesy.

Nope! I don't think it's cheesy! Your wedding, your rules! I think it'll make your wedding YOURS! Besides, how would you salsa dance in your dress?

I don't think it's cheesy. Although it may take time to change but I don't think there is anything wrong with it.

Thanks ladies! I have seen some brides dance salsa in their wedding gowns and you honestly can't even appreciate their footwork and styling. I feel better now that I could wear sometime more comfortably for this 4 min dance. But I definitely want to change back to my dress because I love it as well.

Not cheesy at all! As long as you feel comfortable in your outfit!

If a certain dance style is a focal point in a couple's life (dance teachers or competitors), maybe change of outfit would be reasonable. Otherwise, a simple and short first dance should be fine. This is a symbolic dance and even the four minute one is longer than most people want to watch. Change later during an open dance period at the later point in the reception. Maybe keeping it to one outfit change would be better.
