Is it approriate to invite vow renewal guests to bridal shower

My daughter is American but lives in the UK. She is having her wedding in the UK and will invite immediate family and friends. The extended family will be invited to a less formal event; a vow renewal and dinner in the US a few months later. My daughter wants me to plan a bridal shower that includes both groups but i feel a bit funny about it. Is it appropriate to include the vow renewal guests or should I only include those invited to the wedding?
