Is it a must that the bridesmaids makeup be professionally done?

I have my finalized budget list with how much I can spend on each area of the wedding, but I just realized I don't have cost listed for having the bridesmaids professional makeup. I expect on the lowest end for it to at least cost me another $400 if I pay for them all. *sigh* I would have been under...

What do you ladies think about letting the maids do there own makeup? Anyone have experience with letting the maids do there own makeup and how it looked in the photos? Thoughts on them paying for it if they want it done professionally? (I am covering the cost of there hair up-do's.) Thanks!

I gave mine the option. I suggested salons in the area and provided them with prices but told them that they were not expected or required to do so. That way it is up to them. Best of luck!

I left it up to them. I told them I had a makeup artist coming to the hotel and gave them her prices. 3 opted to do it and the others didn't.

I have 8 bridesmaids and am not paying to have their hair or makeup done. With that said, I have two hair stylists/makeup artists coming to my bridal suite the morning of to do about 5 of our hair and whoever wants makeup done they can accommodate that as well. I'm paying for many other things and don't feel bad at all for not paying for their hair or makeup. It's a personal choice. Do what you want!

It is not a requirement for them to have professional makeup done. I am paying for my girls to have their makeup done but I have a small party. I have already booked the services of the MUA at a bridal expo so the price was not expensive at all, $350 for my makeup, 2 bridesmaids, 1 Jr. maid and my mom. Both of my ladies actually thought it was very nice for me to treat them that day - my MOH said "aren't we supposed to treat you" I think it just depends on your party. But by all means don't require it give them the option.

I'm not paying for my bridesmaids to get their hair and make up done. They could do it themselves if they wanted but they decided to pay to get it done by the same place I am using.

I told all my braidsmaids I would let them decide if they want professional makeup. Im getting mine done and they are more then welcome to join me but they would need to pay for it themselves. I got them the prices and told them just to let me know.

No, pro makeup is definitely not required. I have been a BM in 6 weddings and had my makeup done professionally about half of those. I have sometimes been given the choice to pay to have it done which I have always taken, in one only the bride had it done professionally and in one even the bride did her own makeup. I wear makeup every day, as do most women, so I'm sure your BM will be able to handle this haha. So if its not in your budget to pay them for it, don't stress about it! You don't seem like you'll be bridezilla-ish about how it turns out if they do their own.
