As a planner from California, I think that at least a DOC is well worth the money. I have had many of brides who thought that their moms, friends etc. could help them on the day. The truth is, it is their responsibility to be at your side to make you comfortable. With my business I have made a payment schedule/plan for some of my brides, that way they are not stressed about paying me all at once. Depending on the size and scale of your wedding, you should truly consider a planner. Hope all of the wonderful info from brides and vendors has helped you.

Are you organized? Do you handle multiple tasks well? Can you make decisions without needing a lot of reinforcement from family and friends? Do you have the time? Wedding coordinators have a lot of contacts, and have actual experience with vendors. Plus, some can help you get better prices than you could on your own. It depends a lot on you, your capabilities, and your time frame. But the BIGGEST reason I would recommend a coordinator is the "domino effect." A skilled, experience coordinator will know that one minor decision can impact ten other decisions, will be able to anticipate all those changes, and will act accordingly without you having to do anything.
