Is having a wedding worth it?

Hello, I’m currently beginning the process of wedding planning. I originally didn’t want a wedding and my fiance and I planned on just a court house wedding and have a dinner after with family and party another day with friends. After we got engaged I started seeing micro weddings and thinking that would be nice. We have decided to do a wedding with about 40 guests and after seeing how much venues are I’m starting to question whether this is something I want. It all just seems so expensive. I like the idea of sharing that day with my partner and our family and close friends but the cost of everything just seems like so much. I would like to know if you had remorse for how much was spent after or if it felt worth it? Also for those that did have a wedding what made it feel worth it to you?
