Is having a tv with dj Package worth it?

TheMillers0428, on April 2, 2018 at 10:50 AM Posted in Planning 0 10
Wedding is coming up very soon ( 4/28) and I have a question in mind. I was wondering if anyone had a dj package where 2 TVs were added. The TVs can show a slideshow of our pictures together and with family and if someone uses the hashtag we made up, it would show up on the screens. If so did you feel it was worth it? It’s an extra $500 To have and we could fit it in the budget. However for a guest list of 130, just wondering if it will be worth it or if you had it at your wedding, what were your thoughts of it?

thanks

I haven't been to a wedding with this, but as someone that doesn't use Instagram I would think it's a waste. If your guests are very active on social media and will be posting pics all through the reception then maybe it would be fun, but I would think most people wait until after to post so they can enjoy the reception fully.

If it's in your budget and something you really want to have then go for it. But if you do go with a slideshow of photos, please don't pause your reception (dinner, dancing, cocktail hour, etc) to play it and instead have it on a loop throughout the night.

Agreed! I've been to a wedding and sat through a slideshow of individual baby pictures for 30 minutes... It was cute at first, but after 5 minutes it wasn't fun.

If it were me, I would use that extra money and upgrade something else, like the bar or food options.

You should check with your venue and see if they have a tv you can do this with! Ours does, we’re putting towards the back of the room because we know it will be hard for the people in the back to see what’s going on so at least they have something to look at.

Our band came with 2 big flat screens (included, no extra fee) so we did have a slideshow going, but it was in the background the whole time. We did not, at ANY point, stop the momentum to ask people to watch a slideshow. The MC didn't announce it or anything, the TVs were just mounted to a truss behind the band, and if people wanted to take a few minutes to look at the photos, they could. But if they couldn't have cared less about looking at them, they didn't have to. That's the only way to do it.

Seems like a waste to me. I don't think guests will really pay enough attention to it or enjoy it to get $500 out of it.

I don't think that worth $500. I would save the money.

I've seen it integrated with photographers who do same day edit videos as well as pictures taken during the ceremony and reception. Although I have a feeling the price tag was much higher.

Personally if it was just a few preselected photos repeating I wouldn't spend the $500 on it.

Our DJ offers something like this, but for a lot more money (to the tune of about 1300). We considered it, but passed. My thinking was that it was too much money for what it was. Our ballroom is pretty big and not everyone would be able to see them clearly/make out what was on them if they weren't sitting close to the DJ booth. I also don't think people stop and stare at them either. Maybe glance at them in passing, but that is not worth 1300 to me, and I don't think it would be worth 500 to me either.

When we initially started planning, this was something both of us were sure we were going to get. But once we started making cuts to "unnecessary" expenses, tv screens ended up being one of the first things that got dropped!

Thank you so much for everyone's thoughts. After thinking about it, I'm going to not go with the TV Package. You guys made total sense.
