Getting on one knee a must or is it more about the moment?

No, absolutely not. My future spouse did not do that and I’m so glad. I’m especially happy that he didn’t ask me in front of several people.

It's definately more traditional and not neccessary! Honestly some couples just the discussion to get married and that turns to be the "proposal". Like Big and Carrie in "Sex and the city"!

My guy did and I thought this was so sweet, because not something he would have normally done. But, do what's comfortable for you and your personality

I thinks it’s personal preference for me it was a must because just the act is so special of seeing him get on one knee.

It is not necessary. My husband did but if he didn't have done it, it wouldn't have mattered

Mine did not because he thought he wouldn't be able to get back up from being so nervous 😂😂. But, I was a little confused that it was happening lol because I was hangry from just finishing a 7 mile run and we finally made it to the restaurant and he kept trying to get me to look at something (my ring). I cried 🤷🏾‍♀️. Maybe you can casually just talk about it (what if's) to see their take on it and wait a few weeks or month's then do it.

The gesture is so timeless and romantic. Of course it isn't required. If it was, it wouldn't be so wonderful. I'll never forget when he got down on his knee to ask me.

My fiancé didn’t, and of course I’m so happy he proposed. But deep down inside I secretly wished he had. He didn’t make a speech or make the moment special. I am not complaining bc of course I am just happy we’re getting married. But after everything we’ve been through and we’re about to spend our whole lives together, I would have liked something romantic to hold on to. I’m only admitting bc you asked, I would never say anything to him to make him feel bad or like I don’t appreciate him! My ring is stunning, but other than that when he proposed you would have thought we were ordering takeout it was so casual.

Required? No. Desired (at least by me)? Absolutely! To me, that’s one of the classic hallmarks that defines a proposal. Along with the classic, “Will you marry me?”

My FH actually ended up on both knees! We were hiking, his boots were wet, we were standing on a smooth boulder, and he slipped as he went down. Combined with being super nervous and being at the top of a waterfall, he stayed down on 2 knees. When we watched the video back, he sadly said, “I wasn’t even on one knee. I was on two.” I replied with, “Most ladies only get 1 knee. I got 2. That’s extra special!”

It is not required but I’m glad my fiancé did. And that he did it where he did bc there were “minimal” people around. Maybe 10-15, which is hard in the Magic Kingdom lol. I still don’t remember what he said but was so thankful for my brother videotaping it.

I personally think it depends on the couple. You know your future fiancé better than any of us.

Me, personally, I don’t care. I’m happy that he wanted to be with me forever and that’s all that matters in the end. People get too hung up on these little details, when in reality if you look at the big picture it’s not what’s most important. But to each his/her own 🤷🏽‍♀️

I suppose it isn't a "must," but it sure is a nice/special touch. I am personally glad my FH did. Smiley shame

Almost the same for me! My FH just isn't very romantic. He did get down on one knee, but it was a quick "So, will you marry me?" LOL...I still cried and said yes though.

I feel like for a lot of people it makes it "feel" like a proposal. Definitely not a necessity, but I am glad my FH did. He didn't mess around with a speech or anything. We were hiking and he was like "well, I guess this is as good of a place as any" Smiley laugh then got on one knee and asked me.
