Yesterday, I got a phone call from a restricted number telling me that my fiance and I were the regional winners from Pittsburgh from a company called Bridal Registry. I told her we hadn't registered for anything yet, or been to any bridal shows, but she said we were automatically entered by subscribing for wedding magazines or signing up for wedding websites.
They said we won the following:
1. Either wedding bands or a 3 day 2-night stay at Wyndham hotels in one of 20 cities nationwide,
2. $1,000 in grocery coupons good
and 3. a coupon for 40% off at their website for housewares.
At first, I was super excited; but then she told me all we had to do to claim the prizes was come to a hotel out by the airport and watch a cooking demonstration for 90 minutes, which that, combined with the restricted phone number, is where I start to wonder if it's too good to be true.
Has anyone else been told they've won this same thing? Is it a scam?
