Is anyone else exhausted?!

Gina, on May 9, 2020 at 3:47 PM Posted in Planning 0 5
So I just postponed our 7/12/20 wedding to 7/11/21. However, we still want to have a small ceremony and dinner with just family on our original date. Since that’s the case, the 7/11/21 will just be the big reception party we that we were planning. So I find that I am unplanning, planning and replanning all at the same time. I’m exhausted and don’t even want to do the 7/11/21 date anymore! Please tell me this exhaustion will pass and it’ll all be worth it! Is anyone else just...done?

Oh yes! We are planning a small ceremony and dinner on our original date on 6/20/20, but I am having trouble getting things (park venue, hair/makeup) locked down because there is so much uncertainty. I We postponed to 8/7/20 and will go forward with that us long as we can have 50 guests because I don’t want to deal with all of this another year 😝 I have backup plans for both dates, it’s just ridiculous. I am a planner who likes to know everything and get everything done, and it’s just impossible right now!

I’m beyond exhausted we postponed our July wedding to October and then my fiancée lost his job and I knew there was no way I could keep up with planning another year with all this uncertainty after trying to plan this for two years I just don’t want this stress anymore so we cancelled completely and are eloping on our original July date and we hope to have a low key I DO BBQ/ reception next year if things are calmer but we just don’t want the pressure of having to keep up with saving money for this large event with so much uncertainty. The stress isn’t worth it to me anymore all we care about is our marriage and we can celebrate with our loved ones when the time is safer but that is just where I’m at everyone is different so truly it’s all up to you and your partner how you want to move forward with things.

I found out this week that our venue went out of business and I feel totally fried. Between having to re-envision our whole day, find a new venue, and chase refunded deposits, everything just feels like a big mess. My BFF (and officiant) and BM gave me some great advice which is just to stop everything for a week and just mourn the loss of what FH and I had planned, then next week we can pick everything up with a fresh perspective. I don't want to wait a week with only 4 months til the big day... but I definitely understand where they're coming from and a couple days off from worrying sounds peachy to me!

You are totally not alone! We’ve changed the date once already, and just made the decision to push the big fancy affair to August 2021 and have a small ceremony and dinner this August.

Now, I’m just exhausted thinking about sending save the dates (again!) and planning a ceremony and small dinner with under 50 for this August. Especially with uncertainty still regarding social gatherings this summer. This really zapped all the “fun” out of wedding planning!

I agree it has taken a mental and emotional toll. I think with a year to prepare for the big event, you’ll have time to plan, get excited and relax.
