Just Said Yes September 2021

Is anyone canceling?

So unsure of what to do for 4/16/2020 wedding with 200 guests. About 40 of them are supposed to be from out of the country with 10 in the bridal party. Many people are encouraging us to go ahead with the 100+ guests instead of postponing to God-knows-when. What are you brides doing?

My wedding is 4-10-20. Still kinda figuring out what my venue is planning to do. As of now, DJ & photographer are following their lead. My fiance and I want to continue with the date, even if it means we get married and have a party later. One of our concerns is if we'll be able to get a marriage license.

BUT as of right now, our plan is to still have it if t's allowed. And whoever can't come (5 of his older relatives backed out already), can't come. We invited 146, had 128 yes' and then pretty much 8 backed out due to traveling/being older.

We shall see! It's just comforting reading other people are in the same boat because....everyone else is just like "I feel so bad for you!" and I'm like "yea....this is a whole different type of stress!".

And of course our honeymoon is for Italy in June(ughhh lol). Best of luck!

Our wedding is on April 16th as well. Our venue has shut down, but we are flexiable and will probably use a family members house or yard for the wedding and reception. Thankfully we only invited our immediate family (10 people.) Olive Garden is supposed to cater but now restaurants have shut down. If they stay closed we will make food for everyone (sandwiches, crackers and cheese, whatever!!) If our bakery stays closed, we'll just make a cake. We aren't worried.

4/18 here, we plan on postponing Smiley sad . With all the new CDC guidelines, I don't want anyone to feel unsafe travelling, and I don't want to pay for 140 and only have like 20 people show up.

Mine is supposed to be 4/25.

I feel like my situation might be a little bit different. Our guest count has always been between 50-60 including us. Our wedding is being held at my sisters house/backyard. We’re having a restaurant cater & the vendors we’re having include a photographer & a DJ (which is also a friend/guest). I’m getting my makeup done at the girls shop. So, I’ve checked with all of the vendors and they’re good to go. Obviously my “venue” won’t cancel on me. I’ve spoken with my family and my FH’s side of the family & they both want us to continue on with our plans.
I feel like a lot of it depends on how your guests are feeling about coming, especially the ones most important to you. And, if your vendors are wanting to keep the date.
As of now, we’re not going to cancel/postpone ours. If I start getting guests who are concerned or vendors wanting to cancel, that might change. I really hate the uncertainty of it all. Ughh

Is your state permitting carryout still? If they are, Olive Garden will still be able to cater for you!

I have no idea. I'll have to check and see what happens. Either way, not worried and I see this whole sitiation as a blessing in disguise.

That’s an amazing attitude! A marriage is about you and your FS and you clearly remember that! Best wishes!

We are 4/25 and we postponed. We will still get married on the 25th but in a small ceremony at my parents house. We are in Chicago and when they put a ban on gatherings of 250+ until May, we knew we had to. We invited 350. And now CDC is recommending limiting to 50...so it was definitely the right decision. I wouldn’t want to put anyone at risk. All of our vendors are understanding and are working together to find a new date. This has all been super devastating and everything is happening so quickly. I’ve cried everyday for the past 4 days. I know it’s difficult, but I would suggest postponing your wedding. If the experts are recommending it, it’s smart to listen.

We found out yesterday that we have to reschedule our wedding... our new wedding date is 10/31/20. The venue transferred all our date and aren't charging us since this is a natural disaster that's out of our control. I'm sending you positive thoughts!

4/18/20 - We are not postponing at all. Right now, neither of our venues have said we cannot have the event. If one or both of our venues force us to cancel/reschedule, we will come up with another plan. I have an idea to have a small ceremony (for whoever wants to continue to travel/attend) in the backyard of my grandparent's (since my grandfather is the officiant). I haven't talked to anyone about this idea yet because I literally just thought of it today since who knows when these bans and closures will get better or worse. My brother is already on the DOD ban in NY after just moving last month and just getting approved leave last week, so I'm pretty bummed right now.. Either way, my marriage date will stay 4/18/2020 and may or may not have a vow renewal/reception later on. The other thing is our photographer is pregnant and I'm not sure how she feels about any of this.

We are also in Chicago, and our vendors have been wonderful - we found a reschedule date (5/9 > 8/1) that somehow worked, and we are still getting married on the original date, just in our living room or something!
