Is a white quinceanera dress tacky?

Miray, on May 18, 2019 at 3:18 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 12
So I love the look of the classic princess ball gown (Basque waist, full skirt, corset back). However, I'm having a hard time finding gowns like that since the bridal trend seems to be more relaxed, with fitted lace gowns, sheath dresses, and relaxed A lines rather than ball gowns. I'm also trying to keep my total budget including alterations under 2000. I realized that quince dresses come in white like 80% of the time, and I'm really considering getting a white quinceanera dress instead of a true bridal gown. Has anyone else considered this as an option, or is there any real reason to not use a quince dress? I'm afraid it might look tacky, or cheap, or it might make me look too juvenile like I'm playing princess dress up. I'd really love some feedback!

I don't think it's tacky. You'll probably end up saving money too! I found my wedding dress at a quince shop. They had wedding and quince dresses.

I don't think it's tacky. No one will know where your dress came from or how it was categorized.

I dont think it will be tacky. No one will know unless you tell them. My only comment would be do you want a train? I dont think a lot of quince dresses come with one. Not everyone wants a train but it is very bridal. Just something to think about.

I remember someone posting here that they did the same thing and it saved her tons of money! I think she found hers for under $500

No one will ever know that it's not from a bridal shop

Thanks for all the positivity guys 💕 I really appreciate it!! I definitely feel a lot more secure about trying some quince dresses on instead of settling for something from a true bridal store.

No 😕 I'm going to wait until next year to look in stores since my wedding isn't until December 2020

I found my dress and fell in love with it not knowing that it was a quinceanera dress. I like ball gown, i love sparkles and i love the long train... but when you put all those together and buy it as a “bridal gown” then you will see money flying out ur door! I saw the same fabric but with a different design somewhere else for 10x the price I paid for mine. I could not believe it! Sooooo... I just simply added a train to my dress and it’s beautiful! My friend thought I broke the bank when she saw my dress. I honestly think that I am just being smart bride for not spending $10K on a dress I can get for a $1000! Use that money for honeymoon instead! 😉

By the way... the veil from the bridal store was priced at like $600... bought the same one from wish.com for $20 😉 Good luck!
