Is a white dinner jacket only appropriate for black/white tie events?

Is a white dinner jacket only appropriate for black/white tie events? We're getting married on August 20th, 2022 and our wedding is very formal, but we didn't want our guests to freak out over a black tie requirement (we live in Wyoming and there's nothing black tie going on here LOL). We've gone with a "Formal Requested" attire and FH is wanting to wear a white dinner jacket with black lapels. Is this too over the top for what we've requested our guests to wear?

    Not at all! That works and looks great with "formal" attire. It's also common for the couple (and maybe immediate family members) to be more dressed up than what the dress code says.

    Not too over the top at all! And I think the bride and groom being dressed in whatever they want on their day is the way to go!

    Not at all Aubree! We also put ‘Formal Attire’ on our invitations. I think what you all are requesting is perfectly fine with a white dinner jacket.

    I agree, the bride and groom are allowed to be more dressed up/formal that everyone else! If that’s what he wants then go for it!

    As a matter of fact a white dinner jacket is a bit less formal than a black dinner jacket so you're definitely good to go.

    I think it will be awesome. There are some many online places to get an inexpensive formal suit. They do not have to go out and buy a 500.00 suit.
