Not necessary but can be very helpful for guest to get information.

I don't think their necessary by any means. I couldn't be bothered to make one, seemed too time consuming to give out details that our guests would get with the invitations anyway.

We made one and it’s one of the best things we have done. The majority of our guest list is out of town so we put alllllll the info on there. I put the information for our welcome party, all the hotel/airport/shuttle information, our registry, our story of how we met and how he proposed, and a FAQ page where I put things about parking at the venue and the fact that the ceremony will be on grass etc. We are also doing all of our RSVPs through it. I was hoping it would cut down on the amount of questions we would be getting from guests and so far it definitely has! We made ours on Minted. They have free sites but we paid 20 bucks for the one with more features and to be able to customize the URL. Hope this helps!

I started one but like another posted stated it became too time consuming and seemed unnecessary so I deleted it. I don't see it as a necessity.

It's not necessary. We didn't have one and no issues.

I just wanted to add if you’re having a local wedding I don’t think it’s necessary! But for a destination wedding or if the majority of guests are from out of town I think it can be super helpful. Also I’m weird and love looking at peoples wedding websites haha.

It’s not necessary, but we are doing our RSVPs through ours (using WW). We aren’t doing programs either to save money, so we will have a short paragraph about each person in the wedding party. We will have a section for directions, our travel information, song requests, and an about us/ our relationship.

Do you only give the wedding website to guests? or to all your friends to view?

Definitely only to guests! We put ours on our save the dates so people could start making travel arrangements. And we will include them on our invitations as well.

Here's mine if you'd like an idea. It's helpful, but not nessesary. People can RSVP through it, check out my registry, find accommodations, etc.

Once upon a time-(like 15+ years ago)...wedding websites were not a popular thing or even a thing. Neither were save the dates. Neither were first looks or brides maid proposals.

the same how some traditions from times past are now considered archaic.- garter tosses, cake smash, wearing white for virginity etc.

while you don't have to have ANY of the above mentioned things to get married-heck you aint even got to have a dress or rings to get legally married...its a personal choice on what you want.

I don't know stats on those with/without websites...maybe google has something?

also to answer your question of who gets to see it, we are putting it on our STDs, and we added a password so just our family/friends can see it!

We made one so people had all the info they needed without having to wait for the invitations. Also, for my FMIL to stop asking me the same questions repeatedly. I just tell her to check the website.

It’s definitely not necessary but veryyy helpful! We made one. It gives guests all the extra information they need. Especially for out of town guests. We made it so the guests can rsvp on the website, access directly to our registry, a little clip about us, information about our bridal party, ceremony location and reception venue as well as hotel details and directions

Definately glad we had a website. We did our invites and rsvps and its all streamlined and saved so much money. Plus our guests have really enjoyed reading our story etc. Besides we know first hand how invites often get lost and thrown in trash. This way if our guests needed any information they went on our site.

It's not necessary. We ended up creating one because we really wanted to tell the story of our life and love, how he proposed and include photos of us over the years. I also wanted our wedding party on there with info and photos because we aren't announcing them into the reception. Our registry is linked to our site and we also included wedding venue info (our site has such a cool history and we wanted to highlight that), hotel info, things to do in town, and wedding FAQs. Some sites do let guests RSVP, but we opted not to do that. We used Zola.

Our website is a Godsend!! It has all the information our guests need to know so it might prevent me or FH from getting too many calls, texts, or emails. So far out guests love it. We went with ZOLA. Love that company and we have a registry link for our guests convenience, as well. Best wishes to you!!

I think a wedding website is good for information. We went to a wedding this summer in another state, only knew the groom, and forgot to take an invite with us. They had no wedding website and since we didnt know anyone else going so we had to text the groom the day before to get the information. I dont think you have to put a ton on there but at least basic information is nice.
