Is a Videographer worth it?

Videographers are so expensive and I can't decide if it's worth it. Tell me why you did or did not hire one? Regret it?

I'm getting one because the videographer will capture the moments I missed. Also my parents are really getting quite old and I want to have their smiles captured on video before....they become too old and pass on and stuff.

Like Mandi a videographer was quite a top priority for me - my gown costs $100 from an online store (thank goodness it fits) vs a few k for a videographer

If you have the extra money in your budget to spend, or if you can save up enough, I highly recommend getting a videographer! It's such a different way of re-living your day than through photos alone Smiley smile

@RachelD.....that was so perfectly said!!! What convinced our daughter to agree to one was the advice from one of our coordinators at work. She said she loves going back and watching her daughters wedding video. She loves seeing her parents dancing and smiling....it makes for such lasting memories. I agree to get a good one and check out their work online. I love seeing videos of our couples and how their day was captured. You won't see all the little moments in my opinion without one.

Definitely worth it. We have a 25 minute feature film as well. When it's put together well, you'll continue watching it far after the newlywed phase. Go for cinematography, and with a well-experienced business that specializes in wedding films. Get a college student, and you'll get college student quality...

Yes because you and FH are going to be too busy and you will miss so many moments that the videographer will capture for you to enjoy together at a later date

Yes, yes a million times yes! it is totally worth it. Being able to see and watch what happened, what you missed, your favorites parts, seeing expressions is totally worth it.

this is just our highlight video, but our full length shows everything.

My two guys range from ****. Is it a good price? For what they do, it is. You're talking hours of shooting, prep, editing....one of my guys went to a recent groom's hockey practice to shoot him and his BP horsing around. The ceremony is always woven into the ceremony in an integrated, seamless way.

It's a lot, but even if you're the only one who watches it, if it's worth it to you? Do it.

I wasn't planning to hire a videographer until one night about three months before our wedding... I was sitting at home, watching videos of our pup who we'd recently lost, and it hit me like a ton of bricks how powerful video can be. It absolutely portrays a different perspective than photos. I also like that a videographer will catch moments of your day that you might have otherwise missed in all the hustle and bustle (pun intended!) of the day. If it's in your budget, I 100% say go for it!

Oh, and we hired one - there was NO QUESTONING for us. I have a family overseas who will want to see the video. And mainly EVERYTHING RACHEL D SAID... those are my reasons.

It was an easy decision for me. I knew I'd want it all caught on video to watch every anniversary and show our kids (if we have any). We spent about 2K on our videographer for about 10 hours. With that come a highlight video, and full edit, and we saved some $$ by providing them with a hard drive for the raw footage (which we still need to pick up). We also only had one shooter. The more shooters you have, the more expensive it gets. We've attended weddings that had large photo and video teams to the point of not being able to see some of ceremony because of a blocked view. H was adamant that he didn't want these people in the way of our guests so we kept our teams small.

It was definitely worth the investment. I love watching our highlights video and showing people. The day goes by so fast it is nice to be able to relive it a bit, photos are just not the same. I saw something that takes voice recordings and prints them onto canvas, I've been thinking about doing that with our vows which I wouldn't be able to do without the video.

Yes yes and yes. I would find room. I am and I am already so excited to watch the video because I know the day will fly by and they can catch things you arn't even there for while your taking pictures or getting ready.

I can't afford a decent videographer but FH and I have a friend who has offered to record our ceremony on my camera since he's an aspiring photographer and said it would be good practice. It's not the same by far but I was really upset I couldn't afford a videographer so I accepted his offer. If you can afford it, definitely do it.

I didn't get one because I didn't want to spend the money. I am jealous of people who have videos to watch and relive their day.

It was a must for me. I found one to do ceremony only. He only charged 350 I think. I didn't need all the getting ready and the fancy video edit. I just wanted a raw copy of my ceremony. Maybe a compromise like that?

I'm having one. I don't think I could have not had it. I want to be able to see things I know I'll miss being a bride and all. So I say go for it if you could afford it. I put it in my budget from the beginning.

Some say it is. I didn't have one. I don't regret it. I have a lot of videos that were sent to me. I think they're more personable
