Is a train bearer necessary?

Gonnabeaburch, on August 3, 2018 at 7:00 PM Posted in Planning 0 5
So we are having our wedding ceremony (and possibly the whole wedding) at a camp ground in our state national forest. I just purchased my dress today and although it will be bustled for the reception, it has a fairly long train made of a thin patterned lace. If it were you, would you have a train bearer or let it drag as you walk? Here is a picture of the dress from the back to see what it looks like. We aren't supposed to disturb the grounds, so we can clear loose brush but we can't pull anything (not that I would want to). We will try to pick a fairly flat area and I could put out an aisle runner, but I would rather not. What do you think? What would you do if it was you?

I feel like you'd need a very small train bearer for that size of a train, and even if you did have a little special someone for the role, you'd have to be careful when walking up - making sure you're not outpacing them and that they aren't getting nervous of distracted by all the people looking at them, even if it's in adoration.

I'd look into an aisle runner, but I am sure you've already considered that or you specifically don't want one because it clashes with your venue choice.

I am considering the idea of an aisle runner, but since we are doing a nature theme out in the national forest, I'm not in love with the idea. In the picture I am standing on a pedestal that is more than likely taller than the shoes I will be wearing. I see your point about the train bearer needing to be small and possible getting distracted or uncomfortable while walking down the aisle though. Maybe a runner is best.

What about an aisle runner that blends in a bit with the natural surroundings, made of leaves or flower petals? There's some options on etsy like

    and

I totally get not wanting to get that beautiful lace train dirty, or even getting tears in it, but wanting the ceremony space to keep a certain aesthetic. Best of luck to you.
