Is a rehearsal dinner necessary?

FutureMrsVenson, on May 1, 2017 at 2:10 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 12

Is it really necessary to have a rehearsal dinner when you've just been hit with an obstacle? My wedding is nearing & sadly my fiance just lost his favorite aunt. We will have to travel to South Carolina this week to attend the funeral & the only money we have left is what was being used for the rehearsal dinner. His parents are deceased & my dad passed away last year so all wedding expenses have been on us. Would I be a horrible bride if I decide not to do a rehearsal dinner? Family is everything & I would have so much guilt if we skip a funeral for a rehearsal dinner.

If you are having a rehearsal you have to provide something. It doesn't have to be fancy it can be pizza and salad with beverages. That should not cost an arm and a leg.

    I'm sorry for your loss.

Typically you do a RD only if you do a rehearsal. We are skipping the rehearsal, because we only have 2 adults and 4 children in the wedding party. There really isn't much to rehearse.

Rehearsal dinner is not mandatory. Definitely skip it, even if it was mandatory somtimes things are just more important. Sorry for your loss.

Skip the rehearsal and then you are fine. Most adults know how to walkSmiley smile.

If you still do rehearsal than you need to do a rehearsal dinner with your SO's of BP invited. It could be as simple and pizza and beer at your house

I don't think its necessary but it also varies the time. If it's a morning or afternoon rehearsal then no, but if it is an evening rehearsal then yes you should.

We're not having a rehearsal- I don't think it's a big deal- if you are having a rehearsal why not just have something casual after pizza and beer sounds good!

As long as you don't have a rehearsal it is absolutely fine to not do a rehearsal dinner. I am sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry for your loss. There is no need to have a rehearsal, however if you feel as though you need one then you will need to provide them with some sort of food even if it's as simple as pizza or sandwiches

You only need to have a RD if you're having a rehearsal - so no, not necessary if you don't reherse
