Is a photo booth completely necessary?

I feel like for a lot of people, the photo booth is now a must have. I'm just wondering if it's something I really should have, or if it's something I can skip!

We built one and had signs for the hashtag all over. No one really used the built one, total of two couples used it w/ the props. Pretty funny since I thought our group would have been way more into it. The hashtag signs were perfect. It made for collecting social media photos super easy!

I do not think it is necessary but they are a big hit depending on your crowd!!! We would like one depending on if we can afford it. My job services a photo booth company who is willing to give me a discount.

I think they are overdone. We didn't do one and not a single soul cared, noticed or missed it!

They are definitely not necessary. But a lot of people look at them as another form of entertainment. I am only having one because it is in my package i chose.

Definitely not necessary. We are doing a photo wall instead, and people will be able to download the photos a week after the wedding. Our second photog will run it during the dance, so we don't have to pay extra for it. I'm hoping people will still participate even though there won't be the photo strips. Another friend did something similar at her farm wedding (had guests pose American Gothic style) and people loved it. The album was fantastic and people could do cell phone pics too.

They're not at all necessary, but we had one. Everyone loved it and the line was always long, however you can skip it and still have an amazing reception. It's just an added bonus.

No, it's not necessary, but I can see why you're asking. Sure, they're fun, but they aren't the only source of wedding fun. The necessities are good food, good cocktails, and good entertainment. The other elements are optional. Do not feel pressured into adding anything beyond the necessities.

Not necessary, I would not have one if I didn't find a great deal. I bought a three hour rental off groupon!

My sister was married the year before us. She had one, but she's the first in our family/social circle. Definitely overdone now. The quality of the photostrips, at my friend's wedding was horrible - it looked like they were photocopied. I also went to a wedding that managed to fit a photobooth in the budget, but only had 3 passed hors d'oeuvres, for the cocktail hour and a very skimpy buffet.
