Is a mermaid dress comfortable to wear?!?

TFree, on August 2, 2016 at 9:35 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 17

So, I'm in love with the mermaid style dresses. I tried one on recently, but it was slightly small so they had to pin me into the dress. The concern that I had was that it felt too snug around my hips and knees. I want to be able to sit and kneel in the dress. Has anyone else purchased/worn a mermaid dress and it felt comfortable?

If it's the right size and altered properly it should be comfortable.

Mine is super comfortable after alterations to sit and stand in. It's alittle bulky to walk around in but nothing crazy!

Can't wait to wear it for real at the end of the month!

No joke I prob tried on 50 mermaid dresses. You can and will def notice a difference in comfort based on different designers. I LOVE mine and one of the reasons I chose it was because it was super comfortable from the moment it went on. Try on a bunch and you'll see what I mean.

I honestly don't know the difference between an fit and flare and a mermaid... mine is called a fit and flare and it seems to be comfortable.

I love mermaid dresses! Just make sure you get the right size and it will be fine! If it feels snug around your knees, order a size up and alter the top smaller. You should be able to walk and sit comfortably!

I would think once you have the correct size and alterations you would be good

I attempted to try on 2 different mermaid style dresses. One didn't fit past my hips, the other one was so fitting that I had to take baby steps when walking.

If it fits properly- then yes.

But I mean- it's not like wearing sweat pants- but I think mine is damn comfie all things considering.

It depends on the designer and exact style. Mine was fine walking and standing, but difficult to walk up stairs in and tricky to sit in and tricky to put shoes on in

I tried on sheath and mermaid style dresses and ended up choosing a mermaid. I LOVE my dress! The sample size was huge on me and they had to pin me in it, but I felt like a rock star! Bridal, comfy, and sexy! The right dress will feel amazing. Smiley smile

It depends on the dress, and your build. Different styles and designers 'hit' at different points on the leg even though they're all called mermaids - some will feel too tight/tighten too low down to walk comfortably, some may be ok for you.
