Is a Guest Book necessary?

FutureMrs.Bailey, on May 4, 2017 at 11:12 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 12

This post is mostly for newlyweds. Did you actually need your guest book and what did you do with it afterwards?

    Nah.

    I have one, but I mean. -shrug- It'll probably go on my bookshelf. I've never seen my parents crack open theirs.

    I love your avatar btw!

    @Mandypants Thank you!

    And I feel like I can save my $15 lol. I was thinking people use them to send thank you cards, but can't I just use the cards that come with the gifts?

    Absolutely not. If it is something you'd like to have in the future then go for it, but there is no rule that says you must have one. I bought a small journal so people could write notes to us, and I keep it in my living room on a bookshelf. I didn't want something huge that I'd have to keep in a drawer so I kept it simple and small so I could bring it out more often, or at least see it and smile

    @Mrs.Fall Bride sending thank you cards to our guests who we may not have addresses for. Our ceremony is open at our church with a smaller reception so we won't have addresses for everyone.

    We got a nice personalized guestbook off Etsy and had a Polaroid camera for guests to take pictures and tape in the book beside their well wishes. It's definitely not a necessity but I am glad we did it! I have it sitting on a little stand in our living room and have taken it out a few times to look through. I really like it as a nice keepsake/to have our kids look through one day and it's fun to see all the pictures of every one from that night.

    We had our guests sign a poster from Etsy with our wedding info on it. When we get a house I plan to frame it and hang it up!

    Not at all. We're skipping it. Just no need for it!

    We aren't doing one. I cannot imagine looking through a book of names and reminiscing. I told my mom I'd save the RSVP spreadsheet if she wants. Lol! She was really shocked I wasn't doing a guest book.

    We are using an alternative guest book we found on Etsy.
