is a card box sign necessary?

TeamEJ2009, on July 18, 2017 at 1:57 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 13

Our venue provides us with a card box.... Should I make a sign that says "card box" so people know where it is? I know when FH and I attend weddings, it is the first thing we look for. Also, should the card box and guest book be on the same table? I am making a sign for the guestbook ("please sign our guestbook").... Would it look weird to have two signs at one table?? Should the card box and guestbook be at one table or separate tables?

I got married on Saturday and my card box wasn't labeled and people were confused. So I say yes.

My card box wasn't labeled, but my guests didn't have a problem figuring it out. Or at least, no one asked me. I don't know if the DOC helped.

It was on the same table as my guestbook.

I would expect the guestbook and card book to be on the same table & would only expect a sign if the card box wasn't absolutely obvious

I don't think it's necessary. If people don't know wht to do with cards (and most of us can figure that out) the venue people can direct them.

No signs for us; we figure a wrapped box with a gaping, card shaped hole in it is self explanatory. Smiley smile

Just throw an extra invitation into the card box, people will get the idea.... that's what my sister/MOH has seen at previous weddings, and what I plan to do.

Personally I think a sign that says something along the lines of "cards & gifts" is a little tacky. People usually know where to put them, esp once one gift or cards are added. Your coordinator or venue people can direct if there's confusion. I think it should be on the same table as your guestbook.

I thought about just getting one that says "Cardbox" and one that says "Please sign our guestbook".

Put them and the same table. Do a sign asking your guest to sign the guest book. If I see the box beside the book, I would know to drop off my card and as signed the book. Went to a wedding where the were on different tables and had to walk around trying to find the card box, made me feel uncomfortable. I prefer seeing it right when I enter so I can get it over and done with to enjoy the rest of the evening.

We have a sign for the guestbook because it's not a traditional guestbook, but I'm not bothering with one for cards.

We put a card in the card box so that people could see what it was for, and that worked pretty well. We didn't need a sign.
