Is 40 minutes too long of a drive between ceremony and reception?

Mines a 30 min drive but I paid 1K for shuttle buses.... ppl better not bitch

I mean I think it's fine especially with a long ceremony (we have having a Catholic Wedding so it will be long also)

If you don't love any place near your church then go with a place you love... I'm sure having the wedding at your church is the most important part!
