Is 3:30-4pm Too Early For Dinner?

I'm trying to determine my reception timeline. My ceremony and reception will be at the same venue. My thoughts are, if our ceremony starts at 2pm, then we'd possibly be eating dinner at or around 4pm. Would that be too early for guest? If the Ceremony is: 2:00pm - 3:00pm;

and Cocktail Hour: 3:00pm - 4:00pm; then

Dinner would result to 4:00pm

What are your thoughts? Should I maybe consider moving it 3:00pm? If keeping with that order of events, dinner would start at 5:00pm.

    Shanita, my point still stands. You cannot possibly entertain people for 11 hours. They will go upstairs or leave/go swimming/take advantage of the hotel.

    Also, have you considered offering a late night snack? I think that would remedy any rumbling tummies after dinner.

    You could do dinner for 4 pm, assuming you are also having cake after that. I think that would be enough to fill guests up! I've been to a wedding where they also had a fun snack surprise a couple hours after cake- it was chicken fingers and fries! I thought it was awesome.

    I dont think that would be too early. You always could do first dance, speeches etc before dinner

    How did your wedding turn out. Mine I similar most will be staying. We have venue 2 nights. Fri and sat. Sat is wedding. We're having ceremony at 2pm so guest who stayed Friday night won't be awkwardly bored. Dinner is 4..4:30pm not set yet. After ceremony we will take photos while everyone begins drinking...playing yard games. Until dinner. Then after dinner is cake...and then dancing till 10:30. Then most will stay the night. And be out by noon sunday.

    Older guests are not likely to be going to some after party, especially when there’s a full delux bar at the reception We parents are paying a lot for all this and hope that people aren’t rushing away to some damned after party!
