We are planning for October 2022 wedding so wanted to get a head start but I live in NJ and there are no nice venues that are close to us. The ones i have found and love are just about 2 hrs away. Is that too far ? Fiancé says he wants something closer but there are none !

I don't think 2 hours away is too far. Our venue is also 2 hours away from where we live, most of my guests and pretty much all of my FH's guests live closure to the venue anyway, but for some of them it is still a trek. We plan to have a courtesy block at a hotel for guests who don't want to do a same day turn around trip, so that's my suggestion. People travel much further for weddings all the time, so just make sure you've looked into accommodations for them.

I think 2 hours is fine. My FH's family lives in the Milwaukee area and my family is spread out around Minnesota (all the way up by the Canadian border and some by the Dakota borders and everywhere in between). We live in Minneapolis so we picked a venue in Eau Claire which is 1.5 hours away from us. That means people are traveling anywhere from 1-6 hours to go to our wedding. If it's family or close friends, two hours won't seem as big of a deal because the goal is to be there for your big day.
