Is 1 month before the wedding too early to have highlights put in your hair?

Danielle, on September 5, 2016 at 4:05 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

Hey everyone, so just need a little advise i am trying to figure out how far before the wedding should i get Drastic Highlights put in my hair? i have dark hair and i want enough time that they are perfect but not already growing out and also to have enough time to fix it if they turn Orange. what do you all think would be a good time i was thinking maybe 1 month before but is that too long?

Might be a bit to long of a time frame I dyed my hair a week before the wedding

If you've never had highlights/don't currently have them and your hair is dark, you won't get the drastic effect after one time. I would do a month or three weeks to be safe.

You should talk to your colorist. It took me 3 appointments to get the color I wanted. I have naturally dark brown hair and wanted almost blonde balayage.

I go every six weeks for my foils. But definitely talk to your cosmetologist to get her professional input

I'm having my hair colored 2 weeks before my wedding because I don't want my roots showing!

It all depends on how much coverage/how light you want to go. Ideally you should do it around 1-2 weeks before, but since you're all dark, I would worry about having enough time for a correction if it doesn't turn out!

If your hair is virgin, I would suggest a balayage. it will give you dimension, but you don't have to worry as much about regrowth.

If you want true highlights, definitely have them toned so they're not super blonde in contrast with your dark hair. The grow-out will also look softer.

My stylist recommended any color additions or changes happen at 2 weeks ahead of the wedding.

I did a test color a month ahead of time and it was too dark. I went back in about a week before to touch it up and changed the color. Glad I had the extra time to make sure I liked it.
