Is 1.5 years to early

Abbi, on July 9, 2016 at 12:01 AM Posted in Planning 0 19

We got engaged on March 27. Planning the wedding for March 16 2018. We have booked our venue but everyone is saying that it's to early to do anything else. I feel it's never to early you get better deals right. Any advice on what should or shouldn't be done this far out.

Spend months researching and book it a year in advance. Many good vendors will be booked very quickly.

To be honest with you never it's to early especially when you are the one that has to pay for everything I got engage in April 2016 and I'm getting married July 2017 and I already have my venue flavor kits and my fiancé wedding dress and shoes trust me I'm the only one working and paying for everything myself if I don't do it little by little I can't do it at all

    Congrats and good luck

Thank you I could not agree more. I mean our parents arnt paying for anything we are doing it on our own. We have a 250 person guest list and looking at 30k for our budget. That's why we pushed the wedding 2 years out anyway to save.

Weddings quickly add up and if you can do things early then I'd say do them. I'd hate to be scrambling to do things last minute

Not at all. We got engaged Nov. 2015, booked venues Dec. 2015 and had our photographer and videographer booked by Feb. 2016. Thanks to my early planning, I was able to save $400 on the photography, and lock in 2015 pricing on my venue and videographer.

I think starting early is the way to go. Many of the venues and more can get booked up rather quickly. Also it helps to have things all set and be able to pay things off as you go. By the time it's wedding day everything is paid off and your not stressing out.

I'm literally the same time frame as you. Got engaged 3/22 getting married 3/24/18. I have my venue booked, I have a photographer I really like that I will most likely be booking and will be considering djs soon. I'm starting my dress browsing this month, but probably won't buy until early next year.

Our wedding is Nov. 2017, we booked our venue 2 yrs in advanced, having a 2yr4mth engagement. My dad was against booking venue so early but we also have a popular date and I did not want to change our date not being available; you also get to lock in their current rates by booking in advanced.

My sister planned her wedding in six months and was stressed. I decided set our date for our vow renewal two years out. She said she wanted to help me plan and was excited we had plenty of time. Her wedding was awesome...but the stress.

Definitely not too early. My engagement is a year and a half and we started planning and buying things almost immediately. Weddings cost a lot of money so it makes it easier to spread the costs out over time.

Reach out to preferred vendors now and BOOK! Because of my date many were already taken but I managed to get who I needed. Its never too early bc you will be able to budget much better.

My engagement will be 14 months to the wedding and I feel like that's not enough time. Plan now!

Not too early...we have everything booked for our April 2018 wedding; although we needed to bc i will be moving away for a year and if we waited it would have been too late. However, most vendors we went to said we were not the only ones looking for 2018

Any vendors you can book now, do it! The wedding industry is prone to inflation just like everything else so you'll lock in this year's pricing. One of the few things to wait on would be picking your BP. Wait until about 6-8 months to do that.

It's not to early. Do what you can now. Then there will be less to worry about as the time gets closer.

Definitely book vendors now! I would wait on buying any type of decor. My colors/theme changed a few times. I didn't finalize all of that until after I had my dress and the bridal party's attire selected.
