Inviting my brother's wife

Private User, on August 8, 2013 at 10:32 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6

My brother got married in December and now his wife says she is filing for divorce. My brother is deployed with the army, so he won't be able to come to the wedding anyway. They aren't actually divorced, and the only way we know what's going on with her are from her facebook posts. She posted on facebook last week that she was filing the papers. Technically she is still my sister-in-law, and since she won't answer the phone, texts or emails when our family tries to contact her, I have no idea if I should still invite her to our November wedding or just send to my brother in Afghanistan for formality's sake.

Send to your brother. I wouldn't want my brother's ex-wife in my wedding pictures when i knew she was going to be an ex. that's a really short marriage...she obviously is not good at sticking around...you probably wont ever even hear from her again

I would probably just send your brother an invite in Afghanistan then. If she isn't going to bother answering any of your family's attempts to communicate with her then I don't even feel it would be worth it to waste an invite on her. But I would definitely want to include my brother, even if he wasn't able to actually attend.

I would not invite her. I would send an invitation to your brother though even if he can't be there.

Send an invitation to your brother. But definitely NOT to her.

Thank you for your family's service - my brother spent a year in Iraq and it was not easy and I think it's really crappy that they are getting divorced on top of everything else.

    I would NOT invite her.

Nope. Clearly she wants no contact so why would you?
