As we all know, feeding all of our guests can get extremely expensive. My venue makes our meals for us, so it will be pricey with about 70 guests invited.

Do you think it's wrong to invite certain guests to your ceremony but not your dinner and reception to save a bit of money? My ceremony and reception are at the same venue. If it isn't wrong, how do you go about this?

I've edited the post a little. But to comment on what some people are saying.

I thought gifts were given at the reception, not the ceremony. Regardless, we're asking for donations to a cancer center in lieu of gifts, to honor my fiance's late mother, it is completely the guests choice whether they do or not. Inviting them to the ceremony and not the dinner, is not a gift grab lol.

However, to be completely honest, there are some guests who I don't mind being at the ceremony, but I'd really rather them not be at the reception for personal reasons that involve the open bar lol.

And yeah, I an considering limiting a bit the appetizers at the cocktail hour. By changing the options to the "lesser" options, I could save almost a grand.
